Going to Europe for vacation. Which countries are best to see? |
We're going to Europe for our 10th anniversary and we only have so much time. Which countries, in Europe, do you think are the best ones to see, if you had to choose 3 or 4? |

Europe is a great place to visit!
There's plenty to choose from. If you are short on time, and want to see several countries, best stick to mainland europe where the rail system makes it easy to get around. You could get a rail pass.
Suggest seeing France, Spain, Italy and Germany. |

Britain, France, Germany, and Italy. You know--kind of do an allied/axis half-and-half.

Depends on when you're going. Winter in Eastern Europe is going to be cold and snowy! :)
I've been to London, Paris, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, Krakow, Ostrava and Vilnius. Out of all of those I would say London, Paris and Vienna were the best, but give Poland a chance if you are in E.E. Nobody thinks about going there, it seems, but the Poles are very friendly and extremely good-looking. Krakow is more pretty than Warsaw since Warsaw was entirely rebuilt after WWII. Krakow still looks very medieval.
P.S. Polish jokes have absolutely NO merit whatsoever. |

That really depends on what you are looking for. If you like creature comforts and sticking to the beaten track, then France, Austria and Italy sound good to me. English is widely spoken and not too much can go wrong. They are also beautiful countries with lots to see and do and nice people.
If you like a holiday a little different and more challenging, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus would be nice but you'd need visas for Russia and Belarus (and maybe Ukraine depending where you're from). St. Petersburg and Kiev are stunning. In my opinion, they are the two most beautiful cities in Europe and Belarus is pretty and very interesting. The people are great and it's a different experience to Western Europe. |

If I had to pick, I think my four would be:
1. Italy (think great food, lots of history, amazing cities)
2. France (Paris, the Cote D'Azur, the Alps, world-class vineyards and restaurants, etc...)
3. Greece (The Greek Isles may actually be the most beautiful place on earth)
4. Iceland (Too different, amazing, and unlike anywhere else you've ever been to miss)
An easy way to do this trip would be to fly Icelandair to the continent and collect on the free stopover they give you. Don't spend too much time there though, it's outrageously expensive. Worth every penny, but still, think maybe 3 or 4 days. |

My husband and I loved Finland. Its off the beaten path and not overly touristy. But the people are wonderful, the buildings are beautiful and the landscape/scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We traveled around the country by train for about 10 days and saw Helsinki, Rovaniemi, Kuopio and Iisalmi. There's plenty to do all over the country. My favorite was Rovaniemi though, I never dreamed I'd walk across the Arctic Circle. It was really cool.
We also visited Copenhagen, Denmark, for a few days. It was a very nice city.
And if I were going to do another European trip, I'd pick the Czech Republic. I hear Prague is beautiful and reasonably priced. |

If your trip is in winter: Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
If your trip is in autumn, spring or summer, you must visit Italy, Greece, France and Spain. |
