Going to Europe in a few years! :) Any suggestions on fun places to go? |
Some of my friends and I want to go to Europe in the future! We've already started to save up, and know generally where we want to go (Some of the possibilities are: France, Ireland, Germany, Scotland, Great Britain/England, and maybe even Italy or Greece! Not ALL of those places though...) Possibly going during the summer or spring break time...maybe visit historical places, shopping, and touristy areas? Any suggestions will be much appreciated! Thanks :)

I am sure that you will receive so many answers to your question, when visiting Europe you are spoilt for choice. However, i would suggest you put Italy: Venice(no city like it in the world) with its waterways instead of streets. Piazza di st Marco, small nice restaurants(try Cravate), Florence (the place of birth of the Renaissance) and its museums, and ponte de Vecchio bridge, and the surrounding towns in Tuscany (San Gimignano, Sienna)
London should definitely be on the list, with its array of Historical sites,(remember they ruled the world) restaurants , clubs, traditional english stores like Harrods and selfridges. from London visiting windsor, oxford, Brighton and many other cities would be v interesting. |

I'm Macedonian!!!

Ohrid, Macedonia
During the day you can go on any of the many beautiful beaches by the shore of the lake, do some shoping, sightseeing in the city or just sit in one of the many cafés in any of the narrow streets in the Old Town and enjoy. For all the young people, the nightlife is great and vibrant. The cafes work late at night, but there’re also so many nightclubs where you can carry on from there.
For sightseeing, there’re enormous many old churches, my favourite ones are Plaoshnik, more than 15 centuries old, St. Jovan Caneo, St. Naum… If you climb on the Samuil Fortress, just 5 min from the centre, you get amazing sight on the whole lake.
The Lake is clean, one of the oldest ones in Europe, from 1980 protected by UNESCO as a place of world cultural and natural inheritance. Most of the lake’s plant and animal species are endemic, which also makes Ohrid unique. The most famous among these are two types of Ohrid Trout. You should try them prepared on the traditional way. Mmmmm…
Ohrid is also known as the site of the first Slavic university run by St. Clement and St. Naum at the end of the 9th century. Ohrid, also, used to be the centre of the orthodox Christianity in the whole region. There’s so much history there…
And DO NOT miss a boat trip on the lake, especially at night, believe me one of a kind experience!!
I must not forget to mention the hospitability of the people there.
In the last few years Ohrid is soooo popular among foreign tourists, especially Greeks, Dutchmen, Bulgarians, Serbians, Russians etc. (I even saw chinese ppl this year! wow!!) So, check it out!!!
p.s. Did I say it's cheap?!!! ;o)

check out pamplona the running with the bulls is really the last thing ull see with so many things going on, ive heard the tulips event in netherlands is nice and not what oned expect, if youre into music check out the music festivals in UK all through summer as well ive heard prague is a bargain that makes paris look filthy dirty, btw, going to paris look for hotels near montparnasse station (only tall skyscraper within paris easy to spot) youll find rediculously cheap rooms here for like 20 euro w bath n breakfast - something so you can stay longer, dont do the mistake people do about staying in the fanciest hotel, stay in the most basic so you only sleep there and thats it, dont be american and spend half your time inside the hotel - - remember look for a "hostel" always |

Try to go to as many countries as possible. Start in Ireland and try and see as many countries as possible.
I admit I'm a little biased as I'm English but London and Liverpool are great cities to visit. |

I've been to 11 countries in Europe, my favorite was Italy. Rome was amazing for the history and the food. The Colosseum, the Vatican and the Roman Forum. You could drive up the coast and stop in Piza. The Italian Rivera is beautiful. You could also head up to Monte Carlo, from there you could go up the French Rivera to Cannes and Nice. Then maybe to Paris. At least if I went back that's what I would do. |
