There is so much to do.
Anne Frank’s house,
The Tuschinski theatre (art deco cinema, fabulous, catch a movie there, most are in English)
Do a boat trip along the canals.
The Sex Museum (the main one just down from centraal station, not a seedy as it sounds)
Walk around the city and see all the sights like Dam square, the palace, catch the street performers at Leidesplain.
Go for a walk around the Red Light District (I suggest doing it once during the day to familiarise yourself, then go back at night when the atmosphere is the best.)
There are loads of museums, including the Van Gough
Take a walk to the flower market
There are some great nightclubs that are worth checking out.
Go to a pancake restaurant
Hire a bike and go for a ride along the canals just outside of the city
There is an monkey and ape zoo where you can interact with the monkeys just outside Amsterdam called Ape Hill if you have time to leave the city. |

Make sure to do a few things...
- Rent a bike and ride around the Vondelpark/Museumplein/Leidseplein area
- Go see an Ajax match
- Eat some Indonesian food (Best in town = Sari Citra, Ferdinand Bolstraat)
- Eat a doner (Best in town = Leeman Doner, Van Woustraat)
- Canal boat ride
- Amsterdam History Museum and/or Van Gogh Museum
There's so much to do and see! |

I was in Amsterdam last weekend and loved it!
We went to see Anne Franks House, The Van Gough Museum and Madam Tausaudes.
We walked around quite a lot and spent a lot of time around the Leidsplein which was close to our hotel and there was an ice skating rink there and a lot of nice SteaK houses and Italians.
Bring warm clothes as it was freezing ! |

Go and see the van Gogh museum, and just wander along all the lovely old streets along the canals, Find a great Cafe on the Leidsche Plein or Rembrants Plein and just enjoy having a drink and "people watching"
The Sex museum is highly overrated, I have been there twice now, to take "tourists" but both times i have found it... oh well....
Amsterdam is much more then just sex and drugs, though you must visit some coffee shops, to see the " menu card" which in some places is quite unbelievable.
The Casino is also quite cool to pay a visit.
Have fun! |

Well as ur goin in January RAP UP WARM!!! I went last Jan & it snowed & i was FREEZING!!!
We went to the Heinekan (dunno how to spell it) museum. U pay an entry fee & you get to know all the history behind the beer & get some pints thrown in too!
We also went to Amsterdam dungeon (much like london dungeon) or there is also a canal boat ride.
If your going to indulge in a little smoking (now i know most ppl do! wink wink!) I found that the cheapest place was a little cafe with an alien theme. I cant for the life of me remember the name of it but it had loads of aliens everywhere!!
We went to a really nice steak house & a nice mexican place too.
The steak hse had cow print seats!
Teasers was a good bar. A right laugh. They did tequila shots for 20euro & you had to lick the salt off the waitress' boobs, take the shot & suck the lemon out of her mouth so one for the guys... But it was so funny to watch!
ENJOY!!!! x x x |
