I would sell and buy another one over there. But the choice is entirely yours. |

I suggest you have a look for a car similar to yours and do the maths.
Have a look at:

My father had his Volvo containered over to Cyprus.
If I had the time and money for fuel and hotels, I'd take 2/3 weeks and drive down. |

I came to live in Greece and sold my car, it was only a year old though and lost half it's value. If your car is only worth around 3,500 I would sell it and use the money to buy another one when you get to Cyprus. Even if you take your car you will then have to pay extras for new plates, papers etc... |

I would say sell it and buy another one in Cyprus. Car prices are reasonable in south Cyprus. I have seen Chevrolet cars for example (1.4lt engine) for about 6000 Cy pounds, brand new. At present 1lt of 95 unleaded is 56Cy cents. Everybody drives his/her own car in Cyprus lol. We are not used to public transportation. |

Sell it and buy in Cyprus.Allthough Cyprus is in europe, they are still hanging in to their antiquated rules on "duty free" and will charge you a fortune for registering it etc. |

Buy another car in Cyprus!! The import duties over here might work out more than your car is actually worth. Check it out first. We bought a car when we got here....it was much cheaper to do that in the long run! Our M.O.T. covers the car for two years, and our road tax on our Focus is just £35.00 for the year! Great eh? Which part are you moving to? We live in Xylofagou! I'm sure you'll be very happy here! good luck! |

i live out here with my family and my uncle and aunt are moving out here in January for good and they were going to sell the car but as its a land rover, with the taxes for these 4x4's being so expensive it'd be worth very little so they've now decided to drive over, altough depending on how much stuff they want to bring from home they may get a container.
If its a good car then i dont see the point in selling it, cars are more expensive over here, and you dont wont to end up with some crappy second hand one than can barely get you from A to B.
If your going to get a container anyway to bring things over then stick your car in too, but if you can fit all your bits and pieces in the car then i'd drive over......it shouldnt take more than a week, and there are route planners that could help you.......this is a forum that i found very helpful, on just basic information on how to drive over, how long it will take and so on:http://www.cyprus-forum.com/cyprus6647-20.html
and this is the question i posted a while ago for route planners... i think the one i gave best answer to was a good website :http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsrBce9OHB3aXZuLrH1CFnYhBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20070905142101AARxLC1
and one more thing, if you want to check prices of new and used cars over here this is the best website:http://www.cypruscartrader.com/
anyway good luck with whatever you decide to do |
