I (inividual) support Palestine.
Israel did take the lands that Palestinians used to live because "they are God's chosen people" and "God gave them this land" just because "its written on the bible"
They (israelis) gave them (Plaestinians) a piece of land to live ,which is under siege, has closed borders from sea and land, and the people there are slowly dying from famine.
They did signed a ceasefire many months ago, with the promise of Israel to open the borders for Palestinians. They didn't keep the promise so Palestinians didn't keep the ceasefire either.
While the casualties of the Gaza conflict was 13 and the 10 of them were mlitants the casualties of Palestinians were 1.417 while the civilians were 926.
No-this is not "defend ourselves" tactic.
White phosporus bombs, UN school bombings and hundreds of dead kids is the new Genocide.A small holocaust.
Most Greek people (not all) share my opinion,as well as many politicians ( individuals ).
The Greek goverment remained a little bit neutral to this. Of course expressed the condolences on the Palestinians but also said that the important is to have a peacefull solution.
Kinda diplomatic and cold I would say.
A very strong shock to Greece was when the humanitarian ship Arion (Greek flag) attive in Gaza, Israelis didn't let it to give help and sent it back to Greece. Many politicians condemn this fact, especially when they gave help to Jews back in holocaust times. |

Greek and Israeli relations have always been complicated due to Israel's close relations with Turkey. Greek politicians lean more towards Israel while the population is more on the Palestinian side. |

I'm a bit more with the Palestinians, since i don't believe that Israelis made plenty of compromises if ANY at all for peace. And the ones made are just for that, temporary peace while never accepting letting them live in their own state with dignity, and have their own country (which would have solved most of the problems i believe).
Then again Palestinians while they have to deal with a way more powerful nation, they give it reasons to act against them, which i don't find much prudent, not to say foolish.
Don't know what is in Israeli's mind but their actions so far look like that they will not accept a Palestinian nation there, with every meaning of a nation.
If i were a Palestinian i would have left that place a long time ago probably, since those lands are as much "Holy" as they are "Cursed" with all the wars that happened regarding who will have control over them.
And as for the official government they are mainly neutral, but against war. |

Greeks are always on the side of the under-dog.
Who do you think the under-dog is in this case? |

There isnt much proof ,but there is a passage in history..that suggest that PALASTINIANS,did come from ancient MYCYANE..,perhaps this is why most greeks can relate to the palastinians and thier cause.. proabably a blood connection!!! despite being muslims ,the greek people reconize the atrocietys that israel..has impossed on the palastinians ..i mean the concrete wall.. the constent bombings of innocents..and those cluster bombs are horrible but above all the children..are israelis so stone hearted that they will kill and maim children for life? atrocietsy where also imposed on greeks 200 years ago by turks for 400 years and greeks know excatley what palastinians are going through,IF you take palastines history just from 1900..You will see that the palastinians had rights to won land they had for centuries..but between germany and england..they played a game to divied palastine for thier own gains each having its own agenda.but both used the cause of the jew for a homeland..which was a false cause to start with, kaiser willaim the second..intiated it witht he pleas of hertzel to start a new nation for the jew.. intially kaiser went in to palastine and prommised the palastinians money to improve thier life and buildings and better facilites ..this was happing but it was not for the palastanians it was for the new nation of israel...at first from 1900 to 1945 jew and palastine tried to live in peace but tensions became estranged when palastine became a british protectrate. they tried to imposse law ont he palastines to inhibet them from retaliatign agaisnt jew who where takign thier land..the english had no place there or thier law.. then thier was the 1947 war and the mass expolsion of the palastinians, from thier traditonal homes under fire from british backed guns given to isreal and tanks.. the only country that came to palastines rescuse was jordan.. and was the first country to accept refugees since 1948. in one of these regugess camps ..YASSER ARRAFAT WAS A CHILD .after the UN gave world rights to israel under vote which most votes where bought to become a reconized nation..also spelt the end of plastine as a nation..but as our later part of history records ..yasser arrafat.the black september.the 67 war.. and the expolsion of the jew from the siani..saw the modern GAZZA as the new home and nation of the PALASTINIANS..it was glorious day for palastinasa nd thier supporters ..and one hoped for peace in the levant.. there was for a few short years..but polotics change and so did the future of palstine..from good to worse..just when they provign some thign tothe world, but the israelie did nto want a nation like palstine to build a standign army agains them and saw to thier destruction as we witness on our tv,s around the world on daily bassis,on false accusation usign this time the terrosrist threat....but what isreal has is just pure hate fro the palastinians ..and hits a littlle nation around the ears till it bleeds..and calls it self a hero.. they forget that not only the arab world but a lot of europain countrys are not happy witht hier actions,,and they only manage to creat ememys..but they have alwasy the money game to throw in other nations faces...but lets hope this refomation fot he world economy..makes the jew a beggar... |

Well I quite honestly dont know which side to choose, because I think they both have good reasons to be mad. Plus I have a lot of Palestinian friends. And I was very concerned for their families when the Gaza strip thing happened. I dont think that the Israelies had the right to go in random people's houses and start shooting innocent children. Obviously the children have nothing to do with this whole war. If they really want peace then why did the attack people in the Gaza strip? You dont attack children and you dont blame them for war. |
