I cant afford seeing people dying and especially when it is for this reason, when some others without brain put fires for econi-omic reasons, or for obsession...
Our country is dyiong day by day, and the political parties are fighting about responsibilities and votes...Till when?Till when?

Dellarovere
We should be shocked more than this. Because this ecological disaster leads us all to an inevitable, long lasting and painful death. I really don't care about the houses and properties which have been burnt, but I feel frustrated because of the consequences to LIFE in general, both of humans and animals....
And relating this catastrophe with the fires in Italy, Bosnia, Serbia, Albania, FYROM, Bulgaria and Turkey, we get the image of the hard days to come.
Only arsonist and our Government can be indifferent or even optimistic....

My condolences to their families...
In Italy these misfortunes often happen in summer, many persons die for fires, volunteers, firemen, animals and common people. This is a sad situation that every year is repeated, nearly always in these warm months.

yati_yavuz
death is the thing that people cant hide ... it is as natural as borning and growing up... what we can do is just wishing our good sentiments to the relatives of the dead people...

that is really sad... thats a fire... i dont think its easy to blame someone... we dont know how the event happened...
anyway wishing patience to families of the dead people...

this is so tragic, any time any where when there is Forrest Fires peoples life are in danger.
i have always consider all Fire Mans, Police,Paramedics, and
soldiers, are my heroes.

these brave woman, and men knowingly that when they wakeup and report for duty, they might not come home to there family's.

I proudly call these brave heroes an angels walking among us. not only doing there jobs but saving others also, and sometimes by doing that they loss their own life.

all i can say is pray for there souls, my deepest sympathy to their family's.

and God Bless to all those fallen ANGELS.

well while i went on holiday in Kefalonia a few weeks ago, i heard on the radio one day that most of Zakinthos was on fire and that they caught an arsonist who said that he likes doing stuff like that....phsyco!! he confessed that hes part of some gang. on the way to the beach one day, we say a tiny, little fire starting and thank God we had a bottle of water with us.

there are a lot of weird people in the world but when i think of that statement deeper i remember that its all over the place. and now since its coming to greece i feel weird, a feeling i cant explain... :'(

25/8/07
altogether there were 160 different fires. at least 2 houses are burnt to a crisp. 41 people dead including firefighters. a fire crossed a highway. It was hard for planes to take off because of the wind. The fire today travelled 60 km. it is just as much smoke as 9/11. The fire is now in Zakaros, Immitos, Peloponniso, Katehaki and Athens.

my deepest sympathies to the families of all who have passed away and to the whole nation, ill and i am praying for them. just as my loved ones have gone i will pray for them the same way, making them my loved ones.

HFC
This has been a year of losses for many people in many countries our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who have lost their lives and those who have lost their loved ones.

To all the victims, their families and Greece mourning your passing. We bid you goodbye. We will never forget you. For those who knew you well and loved you, the pain will be deep and enduring. The Greek Nation, too, will long feel the loss of her sons and daughters. We can find consolation only in faith, and in the knowledge that they are safe in God's promise of eternal life.

May God bless you all and give you all comfort in this difficult time.

We in the USA share your sorrow and grief, we too have felt loss, we are all united in grief. I personally have experienced and observed loss of this magnitude. This is not a time to fix the blame. It is a time unite together and limit the extent of the tragedy.

Firefighters Creed

When I'm called to duty God, Wherever flames may rage

Give me strength to save a life, Whatever be it's age.

Help me to embrace a little child Before it is to late.

Or save an older person from The horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert To hear the weakest shout

And quickly and efficiently To put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and To give the best in me

To guard my neighbor and Protect his property

And if according to your will I have to lose my life

Bless with your protecting hand My children and my wife.

"If Prometheus was worthy of the wrath of heaven for kindling the first fire upon earth, how ought all the Gods to honour the men who make it their professional business to put it out?"

Oh, Tolia, that is very sad news!.

Meanwhile, as Dellarovere said, we are preparing our end and that end wont be a sudden one, unfortunately.

....And we keep on living as if we are the last generation on earth, adding greedly to the damage as if there is no tomorrow, as if we don't love our children at all so we don't care what kind of environment they will struggle to survive...

I hope all the lost people rest in peace and hope the families have patience to bear the pain of their loss..

Başınız Sağolsun..

??????
Unfortunately "Sugartown" brides (Remember documentary about a group of unmarried men from Zacharo that went to Russia to meet women willing to marry from village of Klin ) did not have much time to enjoy their life in Greece. The village of about 6000 people does not exist any more: 37 dead, tens missing and new fires starting every minute. 7 children burned alive !

Behind every crime there is somebody to blame : either a sick person or a profit-thirsty businessman. Or both.

Lakonia, Arkadia, Mesinia, Korinthos, Ilia...............on fire. When and where they will stop?

My deepest sympathies to the families

The criminals who put the fire obviously (the death toll has risen to 23...)

It is the worst situation I can remember in my country since I was born! And I am not so young any more!
There are some people to blame but first of all we have to blame ourselves who vote the same two families for so many decades now.
We have seen again that our governors don't care about our country. They sell our country every day and now they let Greece to get destroyed. We have all seen how they let bad situations to grow without doing anything. So,do you think that they really care today? No,of course they don't!
The bad thing is that we know what the politicians do but we vote them again and again. So,we have to blame us first of all!
But,who are those that put the fire?
Every thinking human being in our country knows the answer and of course can understand that it was something totally organised. It is an organised attack that found us unorganised (as usual in that time of the year).

I hope that there are not going to be more victims (there are almost 50 now) and I also want to express my pain and my anger for those who left.

Eleni H
44 people are dead up to now...
and another 11 million that don't know what to do ,how to react to this tragedy...
We see our country being destroyed little by little and we do nothing...we are just waiting...
Let's hope that there are not going to be more victims.
My sympathy for all the families that have lost their beloved!
Let's hope that God will help us!

It's really sad whenever you hear about things like that.Every life is precious, every loss is a tragedy. And the reason why this people had to die makes things even worse...it's terrible.
But my biggest concern(and thankfully I see in this community I'm not the only one) is the huge environmental catastrophy our country, and Europe in general, has suffered. We need to do something about this.Demand the reforesting of all burned forests.Demand better means of fire prevention and control.Demand to make Greece a healthier and greener place for our children to live.Deny to buy property or houses build in the place of a former forest, and demand the demolition of all new constructions in places like that.We need to do something now,act now or else I'm afraid more people will suffer as time goes by,until we all die in a dry and lifeless planet...:(

anlarm
We are all to blame I guess. But mainly terrorists and politicians.
I feel so terrible.

URANIUM
Get well soon Neighbour!!!
It is a big tragedy! God Bless Greek People!

I was thinking that it is a small fire like we had before but It is getting bigger and bigger!...

I hope you can find the responsible of this destruction very soon and punish!

Get well soon again!!
