Despite what most Greeks are told, immigrants have boosted the Greek economy more than ever. Even more, most immigrants would gladly do the job most Greeks would not do.
The problem is not in immigration itself. But in illegal immigration. Paying no taxes and contributing nothing to social welfare system is what it is the problem. But for that, one should not accuse only the immigrants themselves. Greeks also have their share.
Other than that, I love this "Peter Hippie" dude above me that says Greeks were a "clear" race...Speaking of races, I thought Greeks were Homo Sapiens like everyone else...! Speaking of "clear"...there haven't been more population exchanges, wars, immigration and genetic drifts anywhere in Europe more than there have been in Greece. |

India: 1.12 billion
Pakistan: 165 million
Bangladesh: 147 million
Nigeria: 135 million
Philippines: 86 million
Egypt: 75 million
Turkey: 75 million
We can't help them. We don't own them anything. They are not welcome. We have enough and they have to go away. |

I understand that these people are in need and we should help them to have a better life.
But the truth is that we cannot help them all.
We are not nationalists, racists etc. but every country has some limits about how many immigrants can accept.
Greece is not a big country like USA for instance.
Imagine Greece like a house of a 4-member family. In this house how many guests can stay with them?
Maybe 2, 4 even 6 if there is a good will.
But 15, 20 etc it's impossible.
Maybe you will find my example funny but it's the same thing ! |

I love Greece to the extent that I say that I am English but Greek in my heart.
Over the last few years when visiting various areas of Greece we have noticed how hard its becoming for Greece to cope with the influx of mainly illegal immigrants. The Navy/Coastguard patrols are always out looking for these people who think they will find an easier life.
We were on Samos last year and saw the trouble first hand. Its bad now and getting worse.
These immigrants obviously no nothing about Greece and are polluting the towns with petty crime. They should all be sent back to the countries they came from. |

There comes a point where we have to close our borders and say "Sorry we are full, no vacancy."
This is not an act of racism, but the fact is if one is to ensure that there will be land and living space for our next generation of Greece, then the government has to take steps to limit the influx of immigrants. |

My answer is for you but also for "Peace" who asked similar question in here then chose the best answer in a hurry only few hours after posting it and blocking me from seeing his answers:
Illegal immigrants are not welcome in Greece. There are too many already working illegally and God only knows on what kinds of suspicious jobs.
Legal immigrants are also causing trouble with their negativity and bitterness towards the Greeks who opened their homes and welcomed them in their country.
Suggestion: How about everybody goes back home where they enjoy the "freedom and welcome" of their mother land?
We seem to have way too many people in Greece who complain of how things are and how overqualified and overly polite they are to do us the favor and stay with us the uneducated, gossiping, lazy and rude Greeks.
Then there are some others, who get their news from the Turkish papers (eg the one with the Peace symbol) and announce to the world how ruthless we are towards immigrants who come to Greece in small boats and how dare we send them back the same way (and we don't put them in a cruise ship so they can have a vacation).
Is this propaganda because they never lived in another country as immigrants to know how good they have it in Greece?
Only they know for sure
But of course if we say something to defend our country we are racists and nationalists.
If they throw mud and complain they are truthful and objective and exercise their freedom of speech.
How about the freedom of Greeks in their country... did I hear anyone mention it? |

I am very sad about this, because no one ask us and one day we wake up and understand that our country does not belong to us anymore and the state now treat us 2nd hand citizens.
Immigration is the gun of capitalism,to made us works like slaves.
Immigration was the only way to destroy one of the most nationally "clear" countries worldwide. |
