Growing up in Greece, what is/was your favorite Children Story? |
April 2nd is International Children's Book Day!
http://yanswersblog.com/index.php/archives/2008/04/03/the-runaway-title-whats-the-name-of-that-book/ Additional Details Could I get this published in Greece as a children story:
Once upon a time there was a south-eastern country without an identity. So Toto, the leader of the country came up with a scheme to take someone else's established identity as their own.
They came up with the idea of calling their country āKryptonā. Thus the Republic of Krypton was born & the people living in that country called themselves Kryptonians.
To push the name further, they boasted and wave their banner, and proclaimed that they were the descendants of the great Jor-El, father of Superman & Kal-El, SUPERMAN/Clark Kent himself. The citizens even wore big āSā logos & symbols on their shirts & their capital city also started with the letter āSā. |

Here's my all time favorite children's story:
There were 2 good friends and supporters of each other. They both worked in their fields and tended their sheep together, as there were a lot of wolves ready to steal their sheep and eat them.
One day, they started a fight about something stupid,so stupid that they could not even remember what it was.
"Liar and thief!!" they called each other, along with other names (like "hater" and stuff like that).
They really got into a big fight, pulling each other's shirts and yelling names (all this while the wolves were getting closer to their sheep).
When they finally broke their fight and came to their senses what do they see? The wolves had already moved in and ate all their sheep.
What does this story teach us? I leave it up to you to tell :) |

Growing up I loved reading greek mythology and frutopia.
Lately, my favourite children's book is trigonopsaroulis (the little trianglefish) by Iliopoylos. |

When I was growing up, many years ago, there weren't many other options but hearing and reading about Cinderella and all those classical (Disney) stories.
Today my favorite child stories are two, and they are translated from English to Greek:
1. Debi Gliori, "I love you, no matter what happens".
2. Karl Ruehmann"The penguin that wanted to fly" (Filbert Flies).
There are many Greek writers of children books that really worth reading their books. There are also plenty of translated books from other languages, even Arabian. Everyone knows Gianni Rondari, A.de Saint Exupery for example. |

Happy Children's Book day!!
My favorite children's story was an Aesop's myth:
The fox wanted to steal some grapes from the grape vine to eat. But no matter how hard she tried, how high she jumped, how much she stretched, it was impossible. Those juicy grapes were too high for her to reach.
She even asked her friend, the big bad wolf to help her reach the grapes (well, not really her friend, she hated the bastard, but it was out of need to pretend being his friend, since he was so big and powerful).
The wolf tried and tried to steal the grapes for the fox but to no avail.
(Why the wolf tried to help her steal the grapes?Cause he knew she will help him later establish his wolf's nest nearby...so he could go on with his trafficking and illegal profiting business..errr...I mean catching the sheep and eating them).
Finally, with no luck and exhausted from the efforts, the fox turned around to the wolf and declared:
"Well, those grapes aren't any good anyway, I don't care to taste them anymore!"
And they both went home to their caves
Moral of the story (like every Aesop's fable):
"Osa de ftanei i alepou, ta kanei kremastaria"
("What the fox cannot reach makes them look worthless") |

Your story is amazing little miss cutie !
Any story I make up will just be in the shadow of your story so I better stay silent.
When I was a kid I liked many stories and I can't pick one as my favorites but when I went in the first class of high school I was enchanted by the odyssey because the teacher who was teaching us the epic, was a magnificent woman. She really driven us in another world at that time. |

Erm... superman doesn't exist. I'm not sure you really would like to base your lesson on an imaginary character. People can take the wrong lesson, you know.
Anyway. As a child I used to read Aesop fables and I liked them. |
