Well, if there were no Greeks ever, right now you would have not been writing in Latin characters
(Oh yes...!!! The English alphabet is the Latin alphabet which Latin alphabet IS the Greek alphabet, so we would not be having this little chit-chat right now. Not even infront of computers, which computers are working thanks to Mathematic principles established by Greeks).

So... no Latin alphabet, no computers, no space exploration, no moon landing, you would be living in a Nazi occupied world, no USA would have ever existed... heck... no Great Brittain would have ever existed if there were no glorious Roman Empire to ever have existed in order for them to be influenced massively by the Greeks...
No Alexander would have spread knowledge across the world, no Trojan war would have ever happened which lead the refugees from Troy to run to Italy and establish Rome, which also means that the Trojan condom company would have never existed and the population of this planet would now be up to 500 000 000 000 gazilion people...

And most of all my friend, the Real Madrid football club would have never gotten defeated and embarrased to say "WE CANNOT KICK THEIR BEHINDS!!!" (Referring to the AEK Athens FC...)!!!

2nd. Look around you. Deeply. And With all due respect, ask your self who actually.... not invented something... anything in the ancient years but who actually gave it an extra thought, who actually spread the archived knowledge.
Egyptians? With all due respect to ancient Egypt, the whatever knowledge they occupied was kept as a heavily guarded secret from their people, let alone outsiders.
Persians? With all due respect to Persians, their interest was not to promote science, but conquer more and more and more land for wealth alone.
Chinese? With all due respect to China, a country whose people I have a lot of respect for, they did not spread hardly anything of their knowledge, much like Egyptians and Persians.
Japanese? Japan become a great power only after it was "westernised" (1945+ to today...)
Read a few books. Educate your self.
The Western culture owes its existence to Greece.
Europe would have not been today what it is.

With all due respect to the modern world that is comprised today by a mix of ideas and belief systems from all over the planet, if you remove the basic elements, see what remains.
As for the other part of your question, I have wondered my self many times what happened and we didnt end up in Mars about 1000 years ago.
Well... like other historians-archaeologists have investigated the very same question they concluded that... Christianity happened. To put it simply, Christianity stopped the progress of sciences during the Byzantine era. Anything that had to do with ancient Greece was considered... evil. Idololatric. Pagan. Driven to extinction.
THATS what happened.
And what followed was 400 years of Ottoman occupation.
Ironically, some enlightened Christian priests and mostly Arabs, salvaged over the centuries ancient Greek writings. The fall of Istanbul and the Greeks that fled to Europe at that time to avoid the Ottomans, marked the beginning of Renaissance.

An average Greek wont say we did it but:
our ancestors invent some....and our ancestor contributed in.......
I ,personally,dont take credit of of them,since I am not the one who made this progress, but I am proud of it and there is nothing that will stop me for being proud of these acomplishments.

I dont see why you people have problem if someone is proud of his/her ancestry.

If Greeks never existed atall,then who knows.Maybe the 'west' never would have existed,and in turn europe wouldnt have started 2 world wars and wiped out the american indians aswell as inventing the slave trade.

Greece did not invent all science,art and 'culture'.Thier democracy was deeply flawed aswell.The far East especially Japan has advanced fine without the West.It was the Romans who laid the real foundations of Europe.

Do you want to take personal credit for me drinking out of a cup? Did Greece invent that to? Do i have to thank Greeks for the air im breathing also? Its absurd for a modern day Greek sitting at home to start taking credit for computers,and moon landings because Greeks thousands of years ago EXPLORED AND INTRODUCED concepts in maths and or science.The Perisians,Egyptians,Japanese and Chinese were advancing and ideas were imported from all over the civilised world to furthur these ideas.These are human achievments from all over,not just Greeks to claim.If Greece is such a beacon of light for mankind,then why do you live an almost identical lifestyle to your surrounding neighbours? Shouldnt you guys be able to fly like superman now?

My only beef with these types of questions is the seperation of Greek with the rest of the world when it comes to human progress.Greeks never say 'for all mankind'.Its always 'us,us,praise us,we did it,we are different' 'maths,science,astronomy andmedicine ,all ours,we did it all'

You didnt do it all.We live in a pro-western world where great cultures that dont fit in are not given enough light.The chinese had great history in philosophy and medicine,probably the best in the world,the Indians invented great mind and body concepts for wellbeing,the japanese martial arts and self defence,its not all about Greece.

Is Democracy so good anyway? Arabs put Hamas in power,Germans Hitler,Americans Bush?

Look at the world through not just Greek eyes and you might find it rewarding.
