When you walk into a Turkish bath, you will be presented with a list of levels of service just like at a car wash. In Istanbul, it will cost about $40 for the full service in the tourist part of downtown. You will be escorted to a small room/cubicle where you will undress and wrap a towel around your waist. You will lock your room and take your key with you. You will be led into a hot/wet sauna room where you will work up a good sweat. An attendant will come get you and lead you to a warm/wet room and will massage you followed by a brisk scrubbing/shampoo.
Any dead skin cells will be scrubbed from your body! After, you will be able to hang out in the warm room as long as you like. When you are ready to return to your room, you will be given a dry towel to go around your waist and you will have a towel wrapped around your body and another around your head. Your room should have a bed if you wish to lay in there for a while or you can hang out in the outer area and have juice, apple tea or beer for an extra charge. For a lesser amount you can scrub yourself, but if you are going to do this you should do it right. It is expected that you will tip the attendant who massaged/scrubbed you a couple of dollars once you are ready to leave. It will probably cost you about $50-$55 in Istanbul. It is worth doing once. |

I really don't know what the other guys talking about... It is fun in here, Turkey. The massage hurts so much. However, according to the claim and belief; the more it hurts, the more you get relaxed and fresh later... In Turkey mostly women prefer to go hamam (the bath), men rarely do it, eg: I did it just one time in my life...
Disadvantage: If you have asthma or diseases like that do not go... It is suffocating in there...
Advantage: some of them may have pools, saunas: extra accessories...
If you wanna go to ha mam desperately, come Turkey, otherwise don't go (referring to the previous replies: I think, the ha mams in the abroad are a little different or used in different way)
Hope, I helped... |

yes, I have been a lot of times and love it, obviously mens one is supposed to be different, but my dad went a lot and he used to say "he feels so light that he is worried he may start flying" after a Hamam (Turkish bath), I don't know if they do it in mens bath but womens one is a lot of fun like we eat (a bit like a picnic)drink and some times do belly dancing competition in some hamams, but there is nothing sexual about Turkish baths... |

I'm Turkish but have never been to one. So can't recommend but I'm sure they're not beating up anyone. Go try, quit if you don't like. Good luck |

No, I have never been there. But I heard that it's like a big sauna room where you wear a towel and stay there for a while, then you can have massage with special oils. That's all I know. |

Hello
My advice would be to avoid it
have a normal bath instead at least you won't get beaten up
Hope this helps

Yes, 1st of all I m not a gay and I go for an hamam(Turkish bath) twice a month. I definitely recommend it that you will be a bird after sauna, pool, foam massage and a beer.
And I usually go there for 10 years and I didnt see any gay before!!! |

Don't try it , I seen one on a commercial on TV with a little guy between 2 big hairy guys and they were slapping him on the back saying breath my friend breath . It was kind of creepy , you may run into them also so stay clear it wouldn't be pretty. |

Actually I found it quite pleasant. I went for one at my hotel in Kusidasi. I didn't get beaten? I was scrubbed, which hurt a bit and then she gave me this massage with bubbles that was really cool. I am not a big fan of Turkey myself but they do give the best massages of anywhere else in the world. |
