Has anyone been to a European beach?

If so, did you like it? Was it anything like America's beaches?

I have been to beaches in Ireland, England and Croatia.

English beaches are generally not very impressive and sandy beaches are quite rare. Instead they are usually pebblles, rocks or dirt. Bournemouth is one place with a sandy beach but I found it to be quite dirty.

Ireland has got very beautiful golden sandy beaches that will rival any American or Australian beach. Unfortunately I don't think it is really warm enough for swimming.

Croatian beaches are warm enough for swimming. I visited what apparently is Croatia's favourite beach at Bol. I wasn't too impressed. Again, it was pebbles rather than sand. The water on the other hand was beautiful!

Being Italian I've been to a lot of European beaches.I don't know how are beaches in the USA but here in Italy they're quite nice.If you like sandy ones go to northern Italy whereas if you like rocky ones go to the south side or to Sardinia.A friend of mine who traveled all over the world said that the best beach she saw is in Sardinia.

My family recently moved to Germany from the US and I have been to beaches all over Europe. Here in Germany its more skiing than beach but in France the beaches are amazing but the two best countries to go for beaches are Spain and Italy. Southern Italy mind you as the norther parts are more rocky. But we have found that if you spend right it can be relatively cheap. So they aren't really like American beaches. They are so much better. Keep in mind though that few Europeans use the same beach clothing, guys of all ages and sizes wear Speedos and thongs and the nude beaches are mainly composed of middle aged to older people. I hope I answered your question in a way that helps!!!

When I was little, my family lived in Portugal for a few years, I remember that the beaches (at least in Portugal) were incredibly beautiful...

yes, but you have to be careful there are several nude beaches there and the ppl don't wear the same type swimsuits as americans...the men no matter what age, size or shape wear speedo types and thongs. you may like the idea of a nude beach but i can tell you the ppl you see there are mostly not models or even remotely in shape so if you expect to see tanned, fit, large breasted women and guys with great abs....forget it, think more along the lines of your grand parents, aunts or uncles...regular ppl you see everyday.

Greek Chick
Greek beaches are the best...

paris
Yes, at all Mediterranean Coast, on the French Riviera from Marseille to Monte Carlo, at Lido's beach, near Venice (Italy), at Barcelonetta's beach, near Barcelona (Spain), at Sliema's beach (Malta) and on the Greek Islands. I don't know America's beaches, so it's difficult to send you a complete answer.

In Europe the best beaches are awarded a blue flag if they meet certain quality standards.

There are very nice blue flag beaches in Turkey, Spain, Greece and France.
I would recommend to check their website for the best beaches.

WALID
yes i was in france in very beautiful city on the ocean,i did not visit america yet.

The beaches in Europe are much cleaner than Miami beaches, if that is what you are comparing. In Cyprus, the beaches are very clean and the water is crystal clear. Beautiful!
