Has anyone ever travelled with Onur Air Lines?

I know its a low budget air line. What i would like to know is if its good value for money.
i might be booking my flight with them this week.what are your experiances and what is your opinion about this air line.
Additional Details
for those who say it was terrible and never again. please can you give a reason to back up your statment.

here is an answer i got from the travel section. what do you have to say about this.

used them between Istanbul and Antalya. New planes, very nice, basic service but that's what you pay for.

They were banned from the UK for a while (or rather specific aircraft in their fleet were). These were older planes that were falling to pieces.

I went from Istanbul to Amsterdam once. It was ok. Of course it's not so comfortable (they have small planes and seata are very close) but in terms of price it worths what you pay. The most important issue is safety I think and their planes seems to be safe.

YabanciKiz
I wouldn't touch them with a 10-metre pole. They've been banned from several Western European airports due to safety code violations (of course, many in the Turkish press resorted to the same tired argument that "they're out to get the Turks").

My friend, who teaches at a university in Istanbul, flew with them for a brief holiday to Antalya. They lost her bags (despite this being a 50-minute direct flight). It turns out that they were sent to Diyarbakir. She had to drive back to the Antalya airport from Olympos (worldwide, standard operating procedure is to drop off delayed bags) and wouldn't compensate her for the travel back to the aiport. She opened her bag to find that someone had gone through her stuff and popped out all of her birth control pills!

Last September, on an Onur Air charter flight getting ready to take off to Bristol, UK, the pilot announced, "I refuse to fly this plane. It is unsafe." This resulted in a huge debacle of people fleeing off of the plane and sitting on the tarmac for four hours.

Around New Year's this year, a cargo hold busted open mid-flight and luggage fell into the Sea of Marmara.

So is Onur Air a good value? You tell me. Fly Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, or Atlasjet. Flyair, like Onur, is the Dolmus of the Sky.

I did once and never will, again.

In a 45 minute flight, I said all the prayers in my memory that I even don't know how I remembered!!!!

Fly THY. Don't have a heart attack!!

Edit: You wanted facts, here are some;
I'm a frequent flier and the plane I was in had old style bus seats-literally- two engines on the sides above seating level; so loud and shaky that it was impossible to talk or drink anything. The crew looked horrified, one of them even screamed a little in an air pocket- the people that I'm going to depend on in case of emergency- and we jumped 4 times during landing. Thank God nobody removed their seat belt, otherwise somebody could have a big gush on the top of the head easily. The people getting out of the plane were all shaking and pale and when we -politely- complained to the captain he told us this is completely normal since we are not used to flying!!! we were just terrified, that is all..

Is that enough excuse not to fly with them anymore you think??

make sure you can be there on time

Yes. And i would absolutely recommend you to travel with another company. Planes are not good and you get lots of delays. Even they change the route sometimes.

No, and I've never heard of it either. Personally, I wouldn't go on it. If you've never heard of it, don't associate yourself with it. Is it really worth it to choose money over safety?

Claudia
I always fly with THY but I heard from friends that flow with Onur Airs that the planes are in bad shape and they don`t fly on time either.

Missy
i haven't and i will never

i know that there are many delays and bags and luggage getting lost

i don't think it is really safe

try Turkish airlines it is much better

genç türk
Yeah, I did, booked a flight to antalya on a MD83, there was a long delay and we ended up boarding on a Airbus A300, not bad but some delays.

Planes are just ok, but the delays are terrible. My choice is Turkish Airlines for every destination excluding Italy (Alitalia).

Its a low budget Domestic Airline in Turkey. I flew from Istanbul to Izir and I had no problems whatsoever. Think of it this way, They are not going to fly a plane that is not made well. No one want to crash, so why would the pilots fly it if there was a concern?! I recommend it. They even use English announcements along with the turkish ones. Oh, and Its good snacks too ; )
