The Hungarian capital Budapest is far cleaner and more interesting than its Romanian counterpart Bucharest. However, I think Romania has a lot more to offer in terms of geography and culture outside of the capital. There are the Carpathian mountains and the Black Sea (Hungary has neither mountains nor access to the sea) and this year one of the cities in the province of Transylvania, Sibiu, was named European Cultural Capital along with Luxembourg. As well you have a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the painted monasteries of Moldova which are quite unique. As long as you minimize your time in Bucharest, I think you'll really enjoy Romania, more so than Hungary. And if you do want to see Budapest (which is really a gorgeous city) you could do a side trip.

Well im from Romania and is a great country are a lots of great places you can visit. If you want to come you are the most welcom but try to visit the mountain places likeBrasov, Sinaia were you can visit Peles Castle or at 30km from Brasov you have Bran Castle and many many other places you can visit. Sure you can visit the Bucharest too but for a vacation is not to good because like other capitals is crowded. If you want to show you some photos.... tell me. Im sure you will spend a great vacation here

well im from romania and hungary. in fact i went to both this summer. both have a lot of great places. im from brasov in romania. if you are into mountain climbing and nature, its worth it to go. a really amazing thing is the seven ladders waterfall, and draculas castle, there are just really a lot of places to see, and the food is good. why dont u take a train to hungary from romania or vice versa, that way you can go to both.

Go to Romania. It has the most inriched history and lovely places to see. Romania has had very big poets and intelligent people.

I reccomend Romania, and I would know, I am Romanian.

Hello,
I lived in Romania 22 years, now i moved to Belgium which is a great country

About Romania , i'd tell u to visit Moldavia and Transylvania, these two regions are really nice and has lots of thing to offer

About Hungary, i love it, there are all those spas, beautiful architecture, totally different :)
Romania is more like countryside, Hungary is a bit more fancy

Romania ...a lot to see ;)

I would say Romania for its variety. It has beautiful mountain-scapes and wonderful beach towns and everything between. The people are generally very welcoming too.

Come to Canada!!! Nothing to see in Romania but a bunch old dilapadated castles and the odd cheese vendor on a corner. Canada has so much more to offer you! Love and romance at the hands of other men await you in Canada!
