I left Transylvania about 800 years ago, traveling with just a single suitcase and a dirt-lined coffin-- probably a lot has changed since I left, but they used to make good Blutwurst-- blood sausage. Had a bit too much garlic, though. I'd avoid the stake dinner, too

I'd love to go back on vacation, but I'm afraid I left a few enemies behind who might still remember me...

Dude, the character's name is HarKer...

And, yeah. I would LOOOOOVE to go there! The Castle is supposed to be spectacular! and it just looks sooo neat!

I hear you have to be careful of gypsies, but you have to in so many parts of Europe, anyways, that wouldn't bother me...you just don't let them get close enough to pick your pocket.

Yes ! I really liked the roadside vendors..Great cheese and musical instruments for a bargain price.."Dracula's" castle was good too!!..Don't miss Brasov as well..

Yes, a couple of years ago my husband and I drove from Hungary through Transylvania for a 4 day vacation in a small village in the mountains.
It was really peaceful and beautiful although at the time( around 4 years ago) there wasn't food to buy or local stores in our area. If I ever drive there again, I will bring some bread and canned goods with me. I was really hungary for around a day and a half. Most of the food stores were just for cooking at home and baking at home. there were no fast food restarurants around us and the few places we found to eat had a small selection and were way overpriced.
The local bars were cheap but as I am a women, I drank outside as custom was for "ladies" not to enter a bar.
Maybe it was just something my husband wanted me to do but I didn't see any other women in the bar so I had a glass of wine outside on
a bench. The men were too old fashioned and my husband didn't want any trouble.
The people were very friendly and helpful.

The weather's cold, but the prostitutes are warm.

I suggest you pick up a Lonely Planet book from your local bookstore (the one featureing Transylvania would be a good idea). I used one of these for praugue, and it helped a ton in what interesting sights to check out as well as up and coming 4 or 5 star hotels for extremely low prices.

I don't know how good the local food is though- I had some "local" dishes in Prague and Budapest which summed up to be rather tasteless.. couldn't actually tell what the plate was.. it appeared to be boiled bread of some kind.

You may also want to search for upcoming events for whenever you're planning to visit- Prague had an awesome Christmas time market in the main square.

Idk ask Jonathan Harper

My guess is anywhere in Eastern Europe isnt great for a vacation because they're mostly developing nations, so I'd say no, i mean it would be a really cool experience into another culture, but if you want touristy then no

Tamahome
