I went to Krakow last September, it was lovely, interesting places to see, good shopping, nice cafes. I'd go again.

Born and lived 24 years there. Fantastic combination of culture, tradition, nature and good food. It now receives more tourists than Turkey, with visits from British tourists increased by 40% since the joining of EU. Stupid things done and being said by the present ruling coalition of right wing and very much backwater politicians do not seem to be affecting the general public and economy too much.

?
yeah, i wuz born there, nd lived there for 11 years of my life nd now i'm 14 so i live in u.s. for 3 years, i lived 8 in warsaw nd 3 years in smaller cities:-)

Nikkers

Yes. If you haven't been then your biggest source of confusion will be the difference between old zloty's and new zlotys in money. Not helped by the fact they use commas for full stops and full stops for commas in numbers. I had flu coming on at Warsaw airport and got a headache trying to work out if I could afford a BK. Gave up in the end.

ADRIANW
YES and I go there every year and it's fun and especially in Krakow because there are many fun things to see other than in Warsaw.

No, but I would love to go. I have friends that come here from there every summer.

Mariko
NO. but i want go there!
:)

If you have never been-then GO! Don't wait for anything but do your research on the net before you go, and defintely book any accommodation if you are going in summer, as most tourists and kids are on holidays, so don't get caught out around June-August. Summer is the best time to go as there are many tours you can book ahead of schedule, you will see many churches, castles, historical monuments and beautiful parks, lakes and mountains. Check out www.inyourpocket.com for a pocket guide to the larger cities there such as Warsaw, Krakow (must do), Poznan, Gdansk and Torun. Definitely worth it. Happy travelling!

I've been to Szczecin

The answer above that mentions going to bigger cities is right, it was really cool and the people were fantastic but there was little to do during the day, night time however was no problem - Hormon was my favorite club.

I don't know what the problem with zlotys is. Learn a bit of the lingo and you'll have a great time. I was going to go again and travel to moscow by train through Poland and Belarus but I'm going via Riga because time is tight.

I'll certainly be back though, a wonderful country (oh and the Poles who live in England near me now are great too)

Yes. I have lived in Poland all my life.

Yes, since I am Polish and have lived there most of my life. All I have to say, is that Poland is the most amazing country there can be, even with all those stupid and totally untrue stereotypes around. Just take a trip, and the cities I would say are REALLY the most worth seeing are Warsaw (Warszawa), Cracow (Kraków), Wrocław, or Gdańsk. Just take a trip, and I am 100% sure, that you will just love Poland, since besides it's beauty, the people are really nice! (Also don't forget to try some of the traditional foods! ;D ) You are guaranteed to have an awesome holiday.
Have FUN! :)

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
I have about 4 or 5 times. My dad emmigrated from Poland in the 80s so I go back every 5 or so years to visit his family. Gdansk is a gorgeous city. Hel is a nice area too, it has great beaches in the summer. I also like the farming towns like Augustowo.

I have been to Poland twice. I've stayed in Warsaw and Krakow and been to Gdansk. I've travelled there within the country by train and basically been from one end of the country to the other.
I'm not of Polish decent so I found the country and the people to be absolutely amazing. There's so much to see and do --- the Old Town in Warsaw, the Wawel hill in Krakow, The salt mines near Krakow, the Hanseatic city of Gdansk (and all the amber shops you'd care to imagine.)
Most of all Polish culture is astonishing; Poles don't brag it isn't their nature -- They DO have every right to do so.

FYI I'm going back from the West Coast of North America next month.

Nope , but I'd like to - all the polish people I've met are sound and I think its a country with an interesting culture.
