I have enjoyed visits to Lisbon, Algarve, Madeira, and the Azores......
Madeira is beautiful, warm all year, mountainous and green. The nearby island of Porto Santo is small, quiet, and has a lovely, long, sandy beach. Number one for me, though, are The Azorean Islands.........

I'm in Portugal every jear at the Algarve in Lagos or Carvoeiro.
But this jear or in 2008 I will go to Madeira. The only person I know from Madeira is the Portugues Christiano Ronaldo ;-)

I went to Lisbon and I though it was very nice. There were lots of places to shop, relax, eat, drink, and have fun. The places down by the docks are very nice. There are a few restaurants that serve a variety of fish dishes. Enjoy.

I have never been there but my grandmother was from Madeira she use to tell us how beautiful it was............I have been to the Acores Island many times and it's also very beautiful there, I guess it's similar to Madeira.........
tenho muito prazer de ser Portuguesa e de ser das ilhas!

I am living on the island of Madeira for more than 2 years now …. and before that I lived in the Netherlands.

The island of Madeira is a beautiful place to visit. The ‘easygoing’ atmosphere will help you to unstress ... although the full effect of the unstressing can be only guaranteed if you stay more than a month here.

The majority of the locals here are friendly and helpful towards visitors of the island. Even those who have a ‘grumpy’ look. They appreciate very much if you try to learn the language (just a few words). Sometimes this will give you an extra advantage if you are being served or asking help.

Most of the Madeirians can speak English and Spanish. Some guides and hotel personnel know also German and French. For Dutch ... if you are lucky (?) you might come across some who knows ‘Afrikaans’ (immigrants from South Africa) ... hahaha ... I know it is not the same language ;-)

Sometimes the communication between locals seems somewhat like shouting or fighting to each other .... but it is just a ‘friendly’ chat.

The island itself .... well ... I can not describe it in a few words. I would suggest for you to visit it, whenever you can. Each visit you will learn more from the island. And to give you a clue .... after 2 years ... I am still learning more.
