Have you ever been to Germany?

What was your experience

Yes, I lived there for 4 years. It's a beautiful country. I recommend Germany to everyone. It's fabulous. There is so much history and lots to do and see there.

Amazin'
I did a contract over there, years ago now. My abiding memory is seeing an old couple sharing a bowl of soup in the middle of the table. I was told they were too poor to afford one each, but didn't believe that. Also, seems it's the custom for the chef to come out into the restaurant waving a big sharp looking clever if anyone sends him a compliment. Scary. Was enough to put me off the whole idea, I can tell you Other than that very clean with everything running on time.

I lived there for 3 yrs as a child.
I had no problems there. In fact the other children loved the fact that I was foreign and would always help.
When I came back to england, my school years were a bullying hell... zieg heil!... schnorbitz, kraut etc...
It was only when my step aunt came over here before she died that I found out just how rude and ignorant they can be.. and shes family! lol

yea,, xmas there.

6th dec... they leave sweets or a lump of coal under your bed. then that evening instead of like our trick or treating, the shops close early and you go round the shops collecting sweets and fruit etc... it was great! you got far more and in less time.. great for children.
you open pressies at 7pm on xmas eve though, not so great when half hr later you have to go to bed without playing.

yes several times and the Germans that I have met are always polite etc not like the ones that go elsewhere on holiday - I dont like their food though

Mimkat
I lived there in the 70's. I was just a child so my memory is sketchy but I do remember very friendly people, the streets were very clean (my mum still talks about that) & Christmas was a fab time there.

Many times - the best country in Europe in my opinion.

I've been to

Berlin
Cologne
Potsdam
Munich
Münster
Hamburg
Black Forest (Schwarzwald)
Aachen
Frankfurt am Main
Rüdesheim
Koblenz
...and many smaller towns and villages

Besuchen Sie Deutschland! Sie werden es lieben!

Yes I have.
I have travelled by car several hundred times through the Old DDR on my way to Poland and back home, but I have also been in West Germany at several occasions. It is a quite heavy populated country, but not as Netherlands. If I like the country, not really as a whole, but at some places it is quite nice, but I would never settle down in Germany, never. It the the same with Poland.

Hi,

Yes, I have been many times in Germany ...
Dusseldorf, Stutgart, Oldenburg and Hannover ...

But, Duseldorf is really nice place for living ...
Perfect River, Perfect Nature, Nice Parks and Dusseldorf is heart of Germany ...

bibi
yes, i personally found it boring but i was staying in a small town and i can't speak German, i also found that where i was it was very racist

i would love to go to Berlin though

~o0o~
Been there thrice but didn't like their food. I really love Spain better than other countries I've gone.

steffi
Have been there on a few short visits. Liked Cologne (twice), Heidleburg and Black Forest area. Didn't like Bonn. The food was lovely, and the country a lot cleaner than the UK. Looking forward to going again sometime.

Ja. Habe vor 20 Jahren in Leipzig studiert und in Rendsburg gelehrt.

Hundreds of times, half my family live there and it is my favourite European destination. The german people are strict but very nice and welcoming. They have a good sense of humour-yes hard to believe but it is true-and on the whole are very warm.
Be careful with the food, not all to m taste as tends to be rather fatty.
So much to see. Barvaria is so beautiful, Hamburg is wonderful and never a boring momment. Berlin is an up and coming city and has a very interesting love parade-no holds barred, literally. Hannover is quaint and Munich is really a wonderul place to see.

I went to Germany in the early 80's to visit my brother who was in the army and based in Germany don't remember which part it was but it was a really nice place clean street's efficient public transport and some people had machines in their gardens for ciggies and chocolate so you never had to go far to find a shop,

ivy
yes i just got back last week ...
it's a beautiful county but it's too expensive

DaveNCUSA
Yes, I've been to Germany four times. I really enjoyed myself, especially the year I took to the rails and toured around with no specific itinerary (except for Munich -- had to go because it was Oktoberfest!).

truefirstedition
Yes, and I loved it. I went on trips to Munich and Fussen when I was studying abroad in France, and it was a great experience. The people were very friendly, the food was good, and it was very easy to get around. We were able to see a lot of really amazing things in both the city and the countryside. We had some pratfalls along the way - occasionally getting lost, the rare unlikeable beer, etc - but overall I would absolutely recommend it.

Aurora
I have been to Germany quite often, from Lübeck, Hamburg in the north, to Köln,from there to Frankfurt (where my cousin lives), from there to Stuttgart, beautiful city. Worked in Böblingen, near Stuttgart, worked one summer at a bank (it was a student exchange program), also Sindelfingen is familiar! I just love Germany, nice people. Will visit Germany again, must just visit Berlin, the "in" city of Europe, nowadays. There are still so many German cities to visit, for instance Münich. Ich finde Deuschland sehr schön!

fashonion
Yes, Berlin. I was surprised I didn't think I would like it but I loved it. It is full of history, you can see part of the wall which is still standing.

You can go to the top of the parliament building and get great views of the city. The people are friendly.

Oh yeah When I was leaving my train was delayed,so transport problems can happen anywhere.

Yes I went there in 1984 on a 2 week competition tour with our High School Select Choir. We placed 2nd place. It was absolutely wonderful. My experience was unforgettable and I hope to travel ther in the future. My husbands uncle (recently passed way) lived ther for the majority of his life. He still has some family there and I hope to meet them.
