Ok course people are friendly here. I think that was one of the first things that hit me when I first cam to Greece, how friendly and hospitible everyone was. I love the fact that people dont worry about little things here, they dont worry about stupid things like political correctness and things. They all wear their hearts on their sleeves and they live life to the full! I think the Greeks never take their lived for Granted, which I think is an amazing quality, and Greece also happens to be a beautiful country. |

Greece is a country with 11 million people and 17 million tourists. That should give you a good impression. Too many to be wrong...
Wonderful country, people and culture. One trip is not enough. |

Hello,
I could say with great certenty that Greece is a very safe country, where you can walk safely in the night, only in Athens there could be a problem (big city!). Many touristic places are very safe (f.eg. Chalkidiki).
Greece is by all means a country that gives you the sence of being complitely free, it's up to you how to use this freedom, but there are always reasonable rools.
Greeks, themselves, are going very often out for almost all the night, till 4-6 in the morning (normaly ones in a week). They allow themselves to even wake up at 11 o clock, when they are not working. Many people are taking a rest or sleeping at the noon.
They are very open and very helpful as a nation.
(So what do you think about having fun in Greece?) |

I love Greece. I was there in May and visited 6 islands.. It was the most breathtaking magical place I have ever been to in my life. I got lots of goosebumps when I was taking in the beauty. I am already saving up to see 6 more islands for next year! |

Greece is a lovely country and the people can be charming. However, it is important to carry your passport with you and to be careful not to get into a confrontation with the police. It is by no means the "safe" destination that it was in the 1970s and 80s and there is evidence of torture as well as terrorism, some Greek and some foreign but Greek-sponsored. If you can avoid Athens, you will have an excellent time. It is more expensive on the well-known tourist-targeted islands, so chose something less well-known and you are guaranteed a welcome. Otherwise, try the Peloponnese, and especially the area around Sparti (Mystra, for instance, the last stronghold of the Byzantine empire,- while the ancient Spartans arguably built othing but thier bodies, there remains a fine collection of Byzantine ruins in the foothills of the Tayegetos mountains), opr futher down into the Mani. Even Nafplion out of season is worth a visit and of course within striking distance of the theatre of Epidaurus. |
