I have been to Istanbul for quite a number of times. The last visit was in early October. Although I went to university in Ankara, I feel that I like Istanbul more each time I visit it. It will take pages and hours to tell you about all the things you could see and do there, and lots of adjectives to describe its beauty. It is an amazing, incredible, and charming city. Of course some people will talk about bad hotels, and some dirty districts, but all big cities have those (NY, Paris, London, etc.).
You will have to visit and see with your own eyes, but don't blame me if you fall in love with the city. |

That depends on how you define beauty. Looking at Istanbul the way that I define beauty (special places to see/be in and special people to see them with), certain areas are beautiful, and others are not.
But there is enough beauty in Istanbul to last most people a lifetime. |

Yes I have been there many times and I loved it. Great buildings, scenery, the Bosporus is magnificent, great food, sweets (!) and people are very polite in general. |

Yes, I have been. Most of it is VERY beautiful, but like all big cities, there are parts that are not. But nevertheless, a visit to Istanbul is an unforgettable experience. |

I live in Istanbul. I've seen many places in and out of Turkey and believe that Istanbul is worth the money and effort to come and see. It is a very beautiful city, there is lots to do, lots to see, but it's also overcrowded and chaotic and its traffic is a mess. |

No but I hope to visit there someday, that is where my family came from before it got named Istanbul. That was when its name was Constantinople. |
