Have you ever had any weird/interesting experiences meeting a celebrity in Turkey? |
I saw Bulent Ersoy one night walking down Istiklal. It was late, after 11pm, and she was all alone. I passed her, and then I felt bad that a mature woman was walking alone late at night and thought that I should make sure she's OK, So when I went back I spoke English to her like an idiot, but I think I because I was thrown off by her unique appearance, she was dressed in flaminca clothes, I offered to walk her where she was going (tell me, what will a 48 kilo foreign chic do to protect Bulent Ersoy?) she said she was Ok, so I wished her good night and she bid me 'good evening.' THE END.
Now, your story..... please..... Additional Details Eh, I ran in to Rober Hatemo, too, on the stairs to my apartment. We crashed. It flustered him cause he passed up his mother's floor and had to turn around to come down to knock on her door.:) |

ok i have two experiences:
one is with Rober Hatemo the other one is with Levent Ozdilek.
I really think Rober Hatemo is a cool person so it was when he got very famous with Esmer Yarim i was in Beymen Home. I saw him. He was just near me smiling at me i blushed for no reason.
Second one: Sehnaz Tango was on TV. It was a super TV show. There was a guy called Levent Ozdilek with whom i was totally in love. The realisation was being made near a bar where i lived and i didn't know that. I was with my bike (oh my god horrible horrible experience) and then i saw that they were shooting the show and when i saw him i was so surprised that i stopped the bike with a weird sound everybody looked at me!
Super!
Ok no judgements people! I acted like a nerd! I was young!

I met a Dutch celebrity once, while being in Istanbul. I was out with a friend, and he and his boyfriend were sitting next to us. I couldn't stop glancing over, because I kept thinking "I knów I know him from somewhere...." I was sure there was some spark of recognition between us, so finally I got up and went over there. The following came from my mouth: "I'm pretty sure we know each other, are you also from Utrecht*?"
He laughed and told me he got this kind of questions more often, that probably I knew him from TV.
Luckily he wasn't annoyed me 'intruding'; we all sat together, had a beer and talked about our Istanbul-experiences.

when i was sub-lieutenant (asteÄŸmen), i met Muazzez Ersoy.. She was in town and came to visit the headquarter that im on duty... She was Mayor's guest in a festival and of course there was a at least 10-15 person with her.. Guards announced me that she came; i went to welcome her and the others at the front door.... When i see them i went to shake Mayor's hand first.. and then Muazzez Ersoy.... Then i felt guilty about that... Should i shake first of all Muazzez Ersoy's hand?? anyway... that day, i realized that she is really a great person among the Turkish celebrities.. she deserves respect..
And i meet with Şevket Çoruh... he was in military too.. he produced a little theathre about the ''kurtuluş savaşı''..... we were sitting in my room and he was a bit doubt about me.. then i realized that he had a cell phone and wanted to call his wife/gf and dont know how to do it near me.. i said be relax and call anybody you want... and also i think he become my guest in my home but im not sure about that.... couse those days passed soo tiresome and i was usually being drunk at nights..... |

We met Beyaz in Alsancak in Izmir with friends. My camera didn't work to get a photo, so he fixed it took our photos with it and smiled big to the camera and took his own photo. After he made sure it is working, he went about with his own business: ordered his drink or whatever, and chit chatted with others... It was strangely casual. |

I forget the guys name (he's a comedian/talk show host who discovered he had cancer a few years ago). I was in Istanbul airport when I saw him. My dad pointed him out to me and told me that he was a famous Turkish celebrity. I was young at the time, and thought it would be a great idea to get his autograph. I search my bag to find a paper and pen and by the time I looked up, he was already gone. I went looking for him, and I did find him, but he was going through security. I didn't get my autograph that day, but atleast I got to see him in person. |

This is Istanbul. I continuously see "celebrities" and known people. I just let them be. They have the right to live normal lives, you know.
(I don't think Bülent Ersoy would appreciate my indifference, though.)
Edit: I saw Udo Kier at a cinema entrance during Istanbul Film Festival. I must have stared, because I was trying to remember where I know this guy from and we had a moment of eye contact. I heard later that seeing Udo Kier attending the festival was a very common occurance. |
