Yes, (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0107564.html).
There were several small republics springing from the USSR when it dissolved and Georgia was one of them.

When I had to learn the satellites of Russian, that was one (and Ukraine and Armenia and Moldavia and Belorussia and....well, you get the picture)

Trouble
I've heard of it. The former ussr countries don't have much publicity on the news or the media, so some people aren't aware of them.

I've known people from it, heard songs about it, saw it on the map, heard about it in class. Have you ever heard of Tadzhikistan ( a country)? Or Turkmenistan? Or Uzbekistan? They're all former ussr nations.

YS
georgia is a former republic of ussr. now its an independent country. american goverment controls georgian goverment.
georgian is a very beautiful language. go to youtube type tamara gvartseteli: beautiful voice... very friendly people
capital:T'bilisi
major cities: Batumi, Chiatura, Gagra, Gori, etc.
borders are: The Black Sea, Turkey , Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia

if u turn on bbc ( or any other euro news channel) u can hear a lot about this country. or u can ask any russian speaking person.
