The holidays are supposed to be a joyful time of good cheer and optimistic hopes. Yet, it is not unusual for many of us to feel sad or lonely during the holiday period -- a condition that has come to be called holiday blues or holiday depression.
While they may be intense and unsettling, holiday blues are usually short-lived, lasting for a few days to a few weeks prior to or just after the holiday. The good news is, holiday blues usually subside after the holiday season is over and daily routines are resumed.

YES! I ALWAYS have the blues when I get back to reality...even when my reality is pretty good. I spent a year in sunny tropical beachy Australia and had to return to Cold, grey Canadian winter. I spent that entire winter with my thumb up bum, pouting and crying " WHY CANT I BE THERE INSTEAD!!!" I think its normal. Get back into your routine, start thinking ahead to your next travel destination, and try to get back in the game.

What's wrong with you, you have got nothing to moan about, what you are suffering is withdrawal symptoms from your massive drinking, serves you right.

oh pleeeeease, at least you've had a flippin holiday!!... just kidding :) just smile at the memories, plod on and get planning the next one!

laplandfan
I think that is normal. You kinda feel deflated as holidays are usually so relaxing and all problems fade away.
I felt the same in 2005 when myself and family went to Thailand, Australia and Fiji. It's s if you look with new glasses at where you live and you get the feeling of grass is greener elsewhere.
Having said that..we are hoping to actually emigrate to Australia as we loved it so much there.

Always!!!!!! ... I never want to come back after being away its so depressing! but then you know what they say its nice to go but its nice to come back! ... you should appreciate what you have back here and look forward to going again! nobody's life is a pure holiday!

Should be called holiday blues syndrome and we should be given another hol to get over it. Unless of course you've had a horrible holiday.

andipandi
I always feel like this after summer hols and Christmas. Hate going back to work after both.

You might be one of those people who"s destiny is to live abroad. If you could do your job abroad then maybe think about a change of location and rent your home out for a year or so until you decide its for you. Everyone feels a bit restless after a holiday but you used the words "i feel like something is missing", so there might be more to it than just holiday blues.
