Holiday to turkey?

Myself and my partner were thinking on booking a last minute trip to turkey but he is unsure about going (it is more me that wants to go than him) as he said there is a lot of fighting going on over there just now.. Would it be ok to go? I take it it will be as surley they wouldnt be letting you book holidays otherwise?

You will love Turkey.

Have a nice holiday to you and your friend.

tommy
there has always been political instability in turkey...i don't think you will have a problem, the Turks are very friendly and warm people!
also, you should consider forgetting the resorts and visit Istanbul as its a truly beautiful city!!

mete
why the fighting? Sure you should go, turist sites are still the same the politican keep their work in the office and all the protests have settled that was like a month ago

I suggest you start at istanbul

Hello Catherine,

Turkey is one of the safest countries for Tourism. You can double check it via a lot of sources in Internet. Please ask your bf to name the ''fighting'' that he heard of since I really didn't understand what he meant. If he is referring to the crime rate, please note that Turkey is one of the lowest rated regarding crime.
I don't know where you live but comparing your countries crime rate to Turkey will be enough to persuade him, I believe.

Come to Turkey and have a marvelous holiday :)

there is no fight in Turkey at all.... your boyfriend will realize when you two come here

There's hardly ever a bad report on Turkey in this site.
Also, there's no fighting there so I don't know where you got that from.
Go through the reports here and nyou'll get a better feel of the place.

Turkey is perfectly safe right now. I don't know what he's talking about fighting for...maybe the elections, but there isn't any fighting. Have a nice trip! :-)

you won't witness anything untoward like that in turkey. its just like going to spain or greece in the tourist resorts but friendlier. go for it- first time i went i really didn't want to go and it was just after the leeds fans got stabbed at galatasaray match and everyone though that with my yorkshire accent i'd get stabbed too. it was a fantastic holiday and have since been back 7 times and go again in 3 weeks!

I've been going to Turkey at least twice a year for the last 10 years and have never seen or heard of any fighting. The odd terrorist attack has been reported in the press but that could happen anywhere.
The Turkish people are friendly, helpful, honest and always eager to make your holiday special.
Go and have an amazing time. I can't wait to fly out again in July

i have been going to turkey for 12 years, when i met my husband he wouldnt go to turkey now after going just once he loves it and if we missed a year he would be upset you can get trouble all over the world including the uk so go for it have a good time

we have just booked a holiday to turkey today,my dad is out there now. if you want a quiet and relaxing holiday,go to turunc in turkey. not many people know about it as its such a peaceful island and everyone there is so welcoming. i promise if its a relaxing holiday you want, once you have been there you will not want to go anywhere else. book it and enjoy.

their is fighting in far east Turkey but you will be hard pushed to find a holiday anywhere near it........ Lake Van is the furthest east I have been & we were just starting to get into Bandit territory, but even then found it very secure.

& that was only 2 weeks ago

Turkey has wonderfull underground citys & great history

myprecious
i go all the time i feel very safe there
yeah there are incidents but look in your local newspapers theres danger everywhere

i would say go, obviously its your decision but i dont think you should be so worried

gemheinz
The terrorist threat is no greater in Turkey than when travelling on the London Underground.
I didn't enjoy my holiday to Turkey for an entirely different reason... food poisining!
Really though, Turkey is a beautiful country and i'm sure i would have really enjoyed it in different circumstances.

Selena
Fighting???? In Turkey???? Turkey is by far the safest country out of the 63 I visited! Go and put your mind at rest! Have a wonderful holiday and try all their nice food!

frankturk50
I have visited Turkey for 23 years and lived here for last 4.It is a huge country and no more dangerous than any other at present. As I say to people if your frightened why not try USA and watch planes crash into buildings or buses blow up in New York. The world isn't a safe place but Turkey is not a particularly dangerous one.

nelaq
I stongly recommend you to visit Turkey. Start with Istanbul, as many airlines have direct flights to Istanbul. Then go to south, Kemer, Kalkan, Bodrum, Fethiye, Marmaris etc. You have many choices. First check the web for reservations coz Turkey is the favorite holiday destination for Russian, German and British ppl.

oh really?there is a lot of fight going on in Turkey? That means we should go to none of the countries because all countries have their problems.
And if we have misunderstandings it is between us we are not going to put any tourist in a bad position. We are very hospitable.
In France ( live in France at the moment) everyday there is manifestation, everyday there is a problem with metro workers. There is always a conflict here because of Sarkozy or the others, pickpocket, people fight between them but nobody stops coming to France.
This is really hard to understand why we are to be banned because there is an election and we try to decide our president.

Steve J
Hi there.
there is indeed a small risk of Kurdish terror acts, this risk being absolutely tiny. We went anyway and had a fantastic holiday, I suggest going to Side or Antalya on the mediterranean coast as there are fewer Kurds there, so safer.
Enjoy, Steve.

Hello,

It surely depends on where you want to go in Turkey. There are problems in the east region on terrorism but other than that the only danger is the high temperature! By the way on 22nd of July there is election in nation wide. FYI.

flightpillow
Check for travel advisories and then I would decide.....personally I wouldn't but the choice is yours..=)
