'Er indoors!!
We are taking 3 of our Grandchildren away to France. We have already booked a fortnight in a "supertent" on the reccommendation of another family member who went last year, and told us it was amazing.

We are going with "Canvas" and it's cost us less than £800 for a fortnight for the 5 of us, and that INCLUDES ferry crossing.
It beats paying £600 for a WEEK in a cottage in England, and getting a good soaking.

I also agree with Dave J. Kefalonia is absolutely gorgeous, and if you stay in Lassi, it's only a 10 minute drive from the tiny 1 plane airport.
Lassi is a quiet, and very beautiful resort, but only a 5 minute drive,(or 20 minute walk) from the capital of Kefalonia, (Argostoli,) for more shops, nightlife, and entertainment.
If you have kids, the ease of check in, at the tiny airport, and the very short ride to the resort is effortless.
However, I'm not sure there is enough there to keep smaller children occupied, and that's the only thing that stopped us going back there.

Try one of the Greek islands, you won't be disappointed!

My last few holidays:

Skiathos - Very quite, very nice, great beaches, pools were almost empty as everyone was at the beach - great for kids. Skiathos town is lovely but expensive. We stayed at Koukounaries and really enjoyed it.

Croatia - Avoid, complete hell hole. Dead rats in the sea, poor entertainment and restaurants. Very Very corwded

Kefalonia - By far the best place I have ever been for a summer holiday within Europe. Absolutely gorgeous beaches, crytsal clear sea, friendly people, fantastic food, just enough entertainment. Loved it

i live in europe and have travalled around quite a bit. if you want somewhere well known then paris is amazing. madrid and barcelona are lovely but very hot and busy. london is realy nice, cultural and there's tons to do. but it can be very cold. rome isn't that nice, but it was extremely hot when i went so i could't enjoy it much. venice is gorgeous but probably not very good for kids. prague in czech republic is amazing, one of my favourite cities.theres loads to do, even for kids, good shopping and good cultural stuff too. croatia is amazing i you want to just relax and swim, but there's not huge amounts to do if your kids will get bored.
hope this helps.
