6 months is pretty long to backpack or something, so I would say get a cheap apartment and make that your base of operations. Obviously eastern europe will be much cheaper, so look wherever your budget line and your This place is freaking scary lines cross.
From there I assume you are going to want to travel, so getting a eurail pass can be a good move if you really look into which one will suit your traveling needs (you can be super screwed if you get one randomly). The other super cheap way to travel is vis plane, easyjet, ryanair, germanwings, ect..... Never assume train is cheaper than plane, because it generally isn't.
Once you get new places, find hostels...bootsnall.com, backpackers.com, these sites will give you rates, locations and what to expect so you aren't screwed into a 150 euro a night room because you arrived late into Munich and you have no idea where to go.
Finally, go to cheap countries, southern and eastern are usually cheaper. I went to Norway and had to live on loaves of bread for a week since Burger King ran about 20 bucks a pop. The disparity is diminishing between east and west in Europe, but there is still something there to save you some cash.
Good luck. |

Go to Central i Eastern Europe, visit:Poland, Czech Rep, Lithuania,Hungary, Austria and then Slovenia and Croatia. The most expensive from all of them is Austria.Traveling through all Eastern Europe Countries is really cheap and accommodation shouldn't be very expensive. |

Backpack and be prepared to rough it a bit. Also, invest in a Lonely Planet guide book or two, they're awesome. Also, if you're not completely committed to Europe, try going to Egypt. It's an awesome country and dirt cheap. In Europe I'd try Greece, you can camp in a lot of places and it's not that expensive. You might want to avoid England as much as possible, last I knew the pound was like twice as strong as the dollar so that can put a big dent in your budget. |

Are you going to spend them in the same country? better spend a month in Bulgaria, then Romania, Poland and the Baltics. Very cheap and very nice, lot of history and friendly people.
Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic...there are so many choices for a good holiday at a reasonable price. Make sure you plan everything well, learn a bit about the history and local language and you'll be welcome wherever you decide to go. Enjoy! |

Paris is beautiful. subway is very convenient - do not forget to bring a 2" x 1" photo - you can buy a week pass = it is much cheaper. Do not miss the 10 p.m. show for the Effie Tower - it is so romantic,
watch for pit pocket - they use razor blade and cut your backpack or purses
Cann is soso - you can take a little tram to tour for an hour
Nice and Leon is no big deal
there is a travel agency in Europe - I join the tour for $ 48 /day including hotel, tour guide and tour bus. tip for the driver and tour guide is $5 the tour guide speak Chinese , English and Dutch
www.amttravel.com
www.GOEUGO.COM
or you can call The Netherlands phone number 31 10 213 02 08
it is very cheap and the hotel is very nice - it included morning breakfast buffet
do not forget to bring the water bottle w/ you - you cannot drink the tap water
summer is very hot in Paris - but it is so much to see - do not forget to pick up a free map in the hotel lobby - if you want to buy
expensive stuff, eg LV purses. - you need to bring your passport to the stores
and get the tax refund in the airport
I join their tours to travel 9 countries with my husband for 31 days we spend only US$4900 together (do not included the airfare from LA to Paris) |
