How big is Athens airport? |
Will be flying in to Athens airport to get a connecting flight to Santorini, but only have an hour between when flight lands and when we have to take off for Santorini. Will this be a problem or is airport small enough to be able to do this easily? Thanks. |

I am British and live on Corfu, I have travelled via Athens many times and would not leave only 1 hour between landing and takeoff - unless both flights are with the same operator and you do not have to collect baggage and re-check in.
You may be fine but I wouldnt risk it. |

Ficidity my daughter lives in Athens so I go every year. It is fairly big but should not be a problem to you as the luggage comes through pretty quickly and the luggage checks are quick too. It will depend how big the queues are coming through passport control. I really don't think you have anything to worry about though especially if your luggage is being automatically sent to Santorini. |

There is only 1 terminal so 1 hour should be ok (provided flight 1 is on time), as you dont have to worry about catching bus/train to altenrate terminals. Its also a pretty new airport, think it opened 2001/02, so should be a fairly nice place to be. |

The airport is small enough, you just need to go to a different floor for departures, however one hour is not long, because if your flight has a small delay, and then you also have to wait to collect your luggage, and the check-in closes half an hour before the flight departure, so you don't have much time.
So basically the airport size won't be a problem, but any delay will be.
If, however, your luggage goes directly to the second flight and you don't need to check in, you have plenty of time. |

The airport is not so big, an hour will be plenty of time for the connection and some shopping, have a nice trip! |

Its big enough to raise an eyebrow, small enough and easy to navigate through, and comfortable enough to walk around and kill time :-) |

I think you mean the E. Venizelos one right? I went there from my vacation to madrid. It wasnt really HUGE compared to the one in Madrid, but it is very clean and pretty modern. It is also very new. You wont have a problem. |

If you're flying with same airline it will be easy as they will rush you straight through "transit". If not, try telling cabin crew before you land in Athens and they can contact ahead for you.
The first priority though is to make sure your luggage /boarding pass is logged as straight through to Santorini, but again this will depend on the airline and handling agent.
Athens airport is not a problem as long as you don't have to re-check in for the flight to Santorini. |

Big enough for your current needs but not big enough for the city's needs. |

This is fine. I recently had an internal flight from Leros conecting to a flight to London. The difference in time was only one hour. It is more reliable, possibly, if both flights are on the State Airline - Olympic. |

It's not as big as most capital city airports, however if you have to check in again for your connecting flight, departures can be busy. Just make sure you get a move on when you're going for the connection and it should be ok.If no need to check in again it'll be easy..... Have fun. |
