His name was John Gemelas or Yianni Yemela. Some witnesses said he was captured some where in Turkey. |

With the colapse of the Greek army in 1922 I would doubt that there was much if any reliable record keeping in terms of details by either side. If he disappeared in 1920 there might be Greek archives of the event, but by 1921-1922 the Greek army was in chaos and to intent on survival to even keep track of the fate of individuals.
Following the defeat of the Greek army, and the extreme hatered involved in the fighting it would be unlikely for any of those captured in that conflict to have lived very long.
As for graves, the Turkish army did little to mark the graves of defeated Greeks in this conflict. Traveling around the country the best you can expect to find is a few monuments praising the turkish army for their "victory" at the major battle sites. |

Did you try greek auhorities? He is supposed to be sent back to greece after the peace agreement. Else, he might have died from some disease under captivity. But either way the greek government would have been notified. I hope you can find him. Good luck to you. |

He wouldn't be alive by now...unless he lived until 100 yrs old. Yet, if you want to find his gravesight, you might want to hire somebody who specializes in this sort of thing to help you find him. |
