apply for your passport at your regional post office, not accept passport applications but there should be some in your city anyway or nearby.
visa's for russia can be a long drawn out process.
it is easier to go through someone like
go to russia and simply let them take care of the problems.
and there visa registry has changed also, you will get a little slip of paper that you hotel or apartnment manager will have to register also, without that little peiece of paper you can be fined if your papers happened to be checked
and you have been there longer than 72 hours.
it is a pain now just be sure you have good contacts that will register the visa properly,or you may have trouble leaving the country at the airport also.
they have gotten strictor on visa'a over all the terriorists and bombings especially in moscow. |

You can apply for Russian visa online - it is the fastest way to get it. You still need to send your original passport, because Russian visa is a sticker that goes directly to your passport pages. |

Well the passport will be the usual procedure that your country has (check with your department of foreign affairs and trade or equivalent institution).
For the visa you will need a passport photo, your passport, a letter of invitation and the consular fee which you take along to your local russian embassy or consulate. (same procedure for all FSU countries)
The letter of invitation will need to be sent to you by a sponsor in Russia. This could be a family member, a travel agency or a business etc. If your going as a tourist then it would be easiest to see a travel agent who has contact with the russian travel agents and can set this up for you. |
