Take the train. It is not expensive and leaves every 15 minutes. For instance .14 and .44 it leaves from central station to the hague central station. It takes 49 minutes that one.
A single fare 9.50, return 17.50.
It really depends from where you go. Amsterdam has several stations and The Hague has two big ones (Centraal and HS)
Try it yourself at www.ns.nl

(use Amsterdam and Den Haag, not The hague)

you can get a train from amsterdam to the hague.below is the website for the dutch train service, it is in english as well so you should find your way no problem.

all you need to know is where in amsterdam you are going from as there are several stations but i would presume you would leave from central station

From Amsterdam Central, one can take the train to The Hague Central. There are 4 fast trains or Intercities an hour. A one way trip takes you not two hours, but approximately 50 minutes and costs you € 9,50 for a single and € 17,50 for a return.
