 Anyone else go to Turkey on holiday and find taxi drivers etc a total rip off!!?

Actually, proper pronounciation is: sfet-LAH-nah

The SV makes a combined S and F sound, which is not found in English, Most English speakers have a hard time pronouncing it properly, and fall to SV instead.

"A" always make the sound like "ah".

I had this discussion with my best friend, who is a linguist at USU, about a year ago concerning this same name.
