So if we are expected to think that a Queen or a King represents her/his country legitimately, then why have we decided to abolish the Sultanate?

We are in the 21st century, and the Human Kind is supposed to get even further and further in democracy, right?
Nowadays, our kings,sultans or whatever you call them, are not expected to go and lead the armies for the defense of the country....I mean that THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THIS PRETEXT...

Can somebody explain WHY THE HELL this person is supposed to be respected MORE than me and you?

What would be the reaction of the foreigners if we had also a sultanate ( symbolic, though...), which would be able to sign or refuse to sign laws and bills at the TBMM ? ( and by the way that wouldn't even be constitutionnal, since it would be opposite to our secularist principles)

Sorry, my words may be a little bit harsh today, but I just can't understand why someone earns so much money (given by taxpayers who work hard) , just for travelling, shaking hands, organizing official ceremonies, and "representing the glamour and the prestige of a country" when at same time there are so many homeless people or starving people in this world ( and in UK too ).

In fact, I don't criticize the very person herself, but I am actually just disgusted and scandalized by all this circus that we are supposed to organize for someone who didn't even earned her status by a work...
That's just INDECENT.

Just look at Prince William who dared using a RAF helicopter for his personal use ( landing in his girl-friend's house backyard, just to impress a pathetic venal girl )...

So I think our governement should just say "welcome" and " bye bye" , that's all.
And if it was just me, I wouldn't even say "welcome", as she doesn't even deserve it...

It is a scandal how people are just wasting their money in the 21st century and how others are starving!
The Queen has the same color of blood than me and you, she is just another human being on this planet! Thinking of oneself as being superior to others is ridiculous! We all need each other, only too many people are too stupid to realize that!

She might have broken a record as the "oldest lady travelling across the Europe!" That would be really important. Actually, somebody should alert the guinness autorities. Maybe I shall call them after I am done with my homeworks...

Other than that, her visit is far from causing a tiny change in that pathetic life form of mine.

Personally? Well, royalty is good show when it is staged properly. Other than that, what difference does it make for me if she comes or goes?

Of course, if I were invited to the dinner with her, I would think very differently and enjoy the nice food there.

Sometimes the British press doesn't know what its talking about especially when it comes to Turkey. For example I've read an article from the Economist magazine lately, in which they claimed DÃ¶ner kebap was invented by the Turks living in Germany! : ) Can you believe that?

Queen's visit to Turkey is a normal state visit planned months ago. Nothing unusual or extraordinary. The King of Sweden and the Queen of Netherlands also came last year. So what? I generally find Queen Elizabeth very sympathetic but Why should we cheer around for her ?? Turkey is not a commonwealth country, after all. But maybe the British press thinks otherwise...

Well I didn't applaud when she visited our town either, so I guess that makes me even more shallow seeing as I'm a Brit lol
