It would be great for you the visit
As any other place make a plan:
1) Want to relax enjoy the sun and the mediterenian (or Agean)
Try going into an all inclusive deal in Antalya or Bodrum area. Prices from european tour operators are incredible, some around 50-80 bucks a day for all inclusive 5 star resorts.
2) More sight seeing, still want to be around the beaches
Take a little tour, start with IStanbul, spend 2-3 days at least (you could spend 3 months and not see it all, the city is a marvel)
Go to Izmir, maybe a day trip, Cesme for the beaches, if you want to stay around a few days (though Cesme is relatively expensive, as it is the place to be for Turkish Jet Set lately)
From Izmir go to Ephesus (Efes), one of the wonders of the world is there, as well as Mother Marry's house. Hut Kus adasi (it is not like US, we are talking about 40 min bus ride from Airport to Efes, then about 15 min bus ride to Kusadasi)
Stay a day or 2 there, then hit Bodrum and Dalyan area. Bodrum is like the easter European Ibiza, party, and what ever else.
Note: you will get your history on the way, in Turkey about every 10 miles is an historic site, you can follow the yellow signs.
And continue the coast line all the way to Antalya
3) Ultimate history and sight seeing:
At a minimum
Spend at least a week in Istanbul
Hit Kapadokya spend 3-4 days
For the ancient greek stuff, west coast will (Kusadasi, Efes etc.) would also do.
BTW enjoy the food while you are there, as Turkish cusine has no match, neither for quality nor for price. The west and south coast will give you mediterenian food glore, as you get east you add Middle eastern to the mix. North is a marvel of its own, totally unique. And of course you can get a burger or a like any where (please resist the urge) you can get a beautiful 3 course meal for less than you would spend in a McDonnalds there.

Which part of Turkey are you going to visit?
Turkey is a country with a lot of diversity, I have been there many times - and it is really great.
There are beautiful beaches, traditional villages, beautiful landscapes, interesting towns, good shopping possiblities, the Turkish cuisine is very good, people are very friendly (most of them ... there are bad people in every country, you know), and there are also archeological excavations from Romans, Greeks,... (if you are interested in that stuff)
Turkey in general isn´t that expansive ... only in some towns with lots of tourists it could be more expansive. |
