If they stay as nationalist as they already are, they are desgining their end.
Albania is a NATO member and possibly a EU member soon. There will be a new Kosovo soon.
Bulgaria is an EU member. If Serbia finds the other missing from Yugoslav war (Milosevic and Karazic already found) then will have make a big step to enter EU as well.Already the economy is good enough in Serbia.

So what we have?A pseudostate,where all the surrounding countries will be developoed and they wont.I dont give more than 20 years.

If Greece decides (after Hauge) to disrecognise FYROM as a country (de-validate interim accord) then:
-No trades with Greece, no imports -exports with Greece
-No investments in Fyrom from Greece
-No Fyromian can ever visit Greece again
-No entry to EU or Nato (cannot accept an non-existant state)

The other neighbor countries will take advantage of this of course...

So...an "recognised" by UN (then) will be waiting for its destroy
In this option, I give less years of survival....

FYROM, Macedonia, Republic of Macedonia (call it whatever you want) will continue to exist for a long time. The country was purposely created to keep Albania's, Greece's, and Bulgaria's borders unchanged. In the 1990s it served to avoid an Albanian-Bulgarian conflict, and to prevent a possible Greek-Serbian unification which would have destabilized the Balkans.

I don't mind its presence in the region, as long as they don't hate or discriminate the Albanian minority.

I've visited the Balkans several times and Macedonia is moving forward pretty quickly (politically, socially, and economically), another aspect that will confirm its "survival".

It's a small country in the Balkans and like many other small countries in the Balkans they will survive. The other small countries in the Balkans have even been through wars but they survived. Even if I don't agree with they way they understand ancient history, the name they want and many more, I don't see any problem for them to go on because they have all a country needs to exist. You gave some examples, let me tell you, countries can exist without NATO and the EU, they may be poor (now) but there are many poor countries in the world which continue to exist. As for the Albanians, they are a problem for their progress but the worst case scenario is to take 1/3 of Fyrom but even then they will keep on existing.

Let's not forget that those people are Europeans and Christians and this mentality will help them to progress. I will not be surprised if they will have a good economy soon. They used to be part of Yugoslavia and that country was ahead of the rest Communist Balkans before the war. Sometimes even ahead of Greece.

I really wish we will come closer together soon. Hristos voskres.

If FYROM wants to live in peace with its Greek neighbour then it should use what it has in common to build bridges such as Greek and Slavic friendly historical ties, both countries are Christian Orthodox, both countries have issue with Albanian terrorists...FYROM just needs to pick a new name for tyhe 21st century, for God's sake they've had like 5 territory names before FYROM like Vardava, South Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia, etc...great name would be Skopjeia and it's capital Skopje, problem solved...p.s. Greece could knock out this country in 24 military intervention if it ever came to that

Macedonia has survived so far without being EU and NATO member. Also it has survived economic crisis, and Albanian terrorists. It has survived German and Bulgarian fascists, as it survived Ottoman Kingdom, and many others who came here.

Macedonia will survive much much longer than some hope. You will need zillion of lifetimes to outlive Macedonia.

Well the desert people need some where to PARK thier camels when they come to europe..so i guess as long ,as the desert people need a huge camel parking station..FYROM... will be ok.. any way donkeys make the best salami..and the best pastroma is made from camel...as far as the .....extreverted life styles are concerned well they goign to either call them selves ALEXANDRA..or ..ALEXANDER..
