How much do you tip the taxi driver in Turkey?

Taxi drivers do not expect a tip, they are not like most other holiday places. But after saying that, their fares are so cheap in comparison with most other countries that we always either tip them or tell them to keep the change.
We once hired a private hire minibus in Turkey for 3 days, we included the driver in all our mealtimes, he in turn took us off the normal holiday routes to places we would never have seen, the service to us was excellent, as he could speed up the waiters, and ensure we were getting the best of service at the cheapest prices. We tipped him the equivelent of 15 English pounds at the time and he almost kissed our feet. 2 years later, a minibus pulled from the outside lane of a dual carriageway, the driver saying "Hello you are here again, nice to see you". You wouldn't get that respect in any other country.
Tip them what they are worth, but watch out, there are now the odd one or two, who will take you the long way round to increase their fare, don't tip them.. Enjoy your holiday.

in Turkey we don't tip to the taxi drivers,we just pay the money what taximeter shows on the screen.Nobody tips them in Turkey,so just give him the money on the screen.

We don't. We pay what the taximeter writes. Telling the driver to keep the change would be an acceptable thing to do, too.

You don't tip the taxi drivers in Turkey. But we are not so interested in getting back every penny of the money either.

There is no such custom as to tip taxi drivers in Turkey, but we usually say "keep the change". Some are very nice, some are not. I had a bad experience last month. Getting out of Cevahir Shopping Center, we walked to the taxis there. I had forgotten the address of the hotel, but it was very close. They all pretended not to know only because it was a short distance. They thought it wasn't worth it. Then a passingby taxi stopped and took us to our hotel. The taximeter showed only 2.5YTL. I gave him 3.

You do not have to give a tip unless otherwise if u want to..
if you really wanna be nice you can tip whatever amount u want $3 or more ..and JUST TO REMIND MOST HOTELS PICKS YOU UP AT THE AIRPORT FOR FREE ..just ask the hotel first..good luck

Well we usually let him keep the change like if the ride costs 8 YTL we give him 10 and he keeps it all. But they do not really ask for a tip. But if you want to give a tip i would say anywhere between %5-20 and i do not know about the private car

As far as tipping a taxi driver, just round up to next full lira amount, or depending on how much change would be given, such as 18 lira, give the driver a 20. As far as tipping beyond that, remember Taxi drivers are crooks, they will drive slow, take the wrong turns ect. since they know you do not know where he is going. He has already made his tip in taking the longer route, keep that in mind.

Just round up to the next highest lira.

Don't give them an extra tip. They often in effect give themselves tips by way of various scams such as turning on the night meter during the day, taking a ridiculously indirect route, etc.

Somewhere between 2-4 goats is the norm I believe!
Depends how many times he drives you around the same streets. Deduct from the tip if he has:
1) A moustache*
2) Not shaved for a week*
3) Anything dangling from the rear-view mirror.

*applies double for women taxi drivers.
....with luck he'll owe YOU money!
