How much does it cost for a holiday to Greece? |
Like around about, for two people for two weeks with all expenses included? Additional Details It's not for me, it's a gift for my mother. I was thinking it would cost around $15000 but maybe I am way off the mark, I haven't been overseas since 1999 and I went to Japan which is totally different so any ideas of the costs would help, like an average price for a 4 star hotel per night and an average price of tours/meals etc. Flights I can find out easily online. |

it depends on how long ago you book the holiday, the tour operator, the place, the offers at the tickets, and the category of hotels. It also dependson the high or low season, in the islands it will be a little bit more expensive.
However have a look in different tour operators because there are varities of prices |

As most other places I have visited ( most of the known world by the way) Greece is available for any size pocketbook. Depending on your demands for "comfort", you can visit Greece on a budget or in oppulence. |

It has been 3 years since i went to Greece and now things are a bit more expensive but expect to spend around $300 a Day between the two of you for hotel and food and some taxi service and museums now to go the islands or rent a sail boat add another $1500 a day but for two weeks $4500 is good for you two so have good time ! |

Surely the answer depends on what offers are available for the time you want to go, surely?
[ and also based how much do you can afford or NOT afford to spend? ]

Is that all there is?

Do Not believe anything Carmelo says.He is against Greeks. I guess he is a troll as they call in Y!Answers. Have no idea why.Except if he is used to Luxury vacations which I strongly doubt. Of course you can spend as much as you like. I can tell you from the most expensive places/packages with spas, mineral baths or river rafting, museum hoping, ancient site tours, Nature tours, etc etc, and experiences in Greece, to a few Euro ones. British do vacations here for as little as 300Euros!! for the time period you are saying.
In fact contact me and I will provide free lodgings on a Greek island for your parents!
This is Greek Hospitality.
Two people from USA once told me that they in fact came to Greece without any money left, and vacationed here having a great time doing seasonal jobs. (Would not recommend coming here like this though please, do not want to attract such tourism, go to where Carmelo is from for that! Ha, ha!
BTW: You know what? There are so many Greeks in Australia that if you go and ask in one of their hang outs restaurants or shops, they 'll tell you "live" information. See u later. |

I'm no expert but I've traveled to Greece four times over the last three years for vacation.
Depending on the season, 4-star hotel should cost around €120 - 150 in Athens, €150 - 300 on the most popular islands and €100 - 180 in other parts. Consider setting aside €2500 for accomodation.
For meals, a simple lunch of greek salad, one main course, a small jar of house wine and a coffee should cost between €30 to 60 for two persons. But you might want to spoil them sometimes for a seafood feast at, say, a fishermen's cove, that would cost between €70 - 100. As for dinner, it really depends on the luxury level you wish to provide them. Throwing in the between-meals snacks and frappes, I would suggest an allowance of around €150 per day, or around €2100 for two weeks.
Do they plan to rent a car? Rental including taxes and insurance amounts to no less than €60 / day but some companies charge extra for exceeding a certain mileage. The price of gas is more or less that of the US.
If they won't be driving, add on €100 / day for public transportation and touristic activities, plus a little allowance for shopping (€1000 perhaps?). This would all total up to €7,000 or US$10,000. |

You can get airfare to Greece for under $600.
I rented a motorcycle for $20/ day. Motorcycles are the way to go, especially in the bigger cities. Explore the entire country and stay in off the mainstream B&B's for $20/night. Avoid the tourist traps. Everything is negotiable in Greece. |

More details please. Where are you traveling from, what time of year will you be traveling.
It's hard to "guess" how much money you will need with out knowing what you want to do in Greece.
Check out tour operators and their packages and you will have an estimate. Air, hotel, food, tours and spend money.
Currency exchange. Right now US dollar is worth 70 cents in Europe. Very expensive to travel right now to Europe for US citizens.
Good Luck) |

It depends where you are traveling from, how many souvenirs you buy, how good of a hotel you want, how much food and snacks you eat, things like that. I recommend doing some searching with some different plane companies. And I recommend deciding exactly what you are going to do there. |

You need to state what time of year it would be and where they would be flying from. July and August are peak tourist times and everything is more expensive then. But this is the worst time to travel to Greece.
My suggestion would either be June or September. Read this link to see the best time to go to Greece:
http://www.travelswise.com/travelgreece.htm
Nevertheless, $15,000 is WAY more than you would need.
Lets assume they will travel in early or mid-September, which is slightly off peak, but probably the best time to go. The weather is perfect and the crowds are diminishing at that time. In this case, I would budget approximately:
$ 1000 each for flights (it may be a bit more with the way gas prices are going, but this is realistic for September travel now.
$ 150 for Hotel (you need to search to do this, but it is possible ($2100 total). It may be a bit higher in highly touristic areas such as Santorini
$ 100 per day for food is more than enough as breakfast is usually included with the hotel in Europe ($1400)
Total so far is $5,500
Then extra money for tours, gifts, etc. I believe that $7,000 would be more than enough.
