ex. If you get a $125 dollar room a night in the US it will look and be the equivalent to a 125pound room which is 250usd. How much would you spend to stay a month somewhere say 2000usd then bring 4000usd to get 2000pounds. You may think that a 100pound room would be the equivalent to a 200usd room but it's not at all. I had fish and chips for 15pounds and it was at a cheap fast food kind of restaurant and it cost $30 bucks. So every thing in London is the equivalent to what we have in the US but its double the price. You get a 50pound room in London it will look like a $50 dollar room in the US. Get it. |

Depends on where you stay... London is REALLY expensive and the British Pound is a much stronger currency than the US dollar right now... you'd better plan on 4 grand or more depending again where you stay, whether you eat out a lot or shop at the market etc. If you want to save some money go to a youth hostel. |

Cheapest hotels with breakfast are 30£/night then at least 10£ for the cheapest meals and then tube etc that means that 40£ or 80$ is the absoluten minimum a day...100$ (3000$ month) is more realistic. |

(100 x 30 = $300 a month -- no, that equals $3000.)
$1 is roughly .50 cents after you take it to England -- on top of our dollars being practically worthless over there, England -- especially LDN, is incredibly expensive.
You can search for Hostels and Hotels to stay in London to get a feel for it.
While traveling over there, try to stay away from the peak season which is around November-January and May-August.
Flying on off peak times will save you money.
Good luck with your trip!! |

Hotel costs vary from £60-£200 a night, plus you will need to allow for food, travel, entertainment etc.
We have just had a short stay at Earls Court Youth Hostel http://www.yha.org.uk which was much better than we expected.
A one way short trip on the subway is nearly £4, so best to walk for short trips or buy a travel card or Oyster card. See http://www.tfl.gov.uk for details.
Approx exchange rate 2USD to 1 GBP.
If you are simply visiting the UK on vacation for a month, I would suggest staying anywhere other then London. |

The best advice would be to look up a few hotels on the internet before you leave.firstly you get to see the type of accommodation available to your budget and its relevent prices. It seems the further in you get into central London the pricier it will get.I live in surrey but am only 20 minuites to the centre by rail, so for value for money and accessability try the outskirts i.e 5-10 miles out and still be able to do the same as within.
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary last weekend (3 nights)and paid half price for an executive king room in Kensington per night because we booked online,Try it you'll be suprised how much further your money will go! |

THOUSANDS.
London is so expensive, and the dollar is terrible right now. It'd be pretty stupid to stay in London for a month right now with the dollar the way it is. |
