How much tip would you leave in a restaurant?

if you answer, ''none''; why?

10 to 20 %. the lower the cost the higher the percentage tip. People who work in cheap restaurants need good tips more. If they do something that annoys me maybe nothing.

hanibal
%10.

Actually in Turkey except the holiday resorts such as Bodrum , Marmaris and what have u, it is not a very big custom like in the States, dunno why but sometimes especially in the governmental facilities its against the rule to give tips like in Officers Clubs and so on...
Other than that , u should leave at least 10 percent of what u pay for the meal or just the coins which comes back in return to ur table after u pay ur bill.

just the coins

Depends on the food and the service actually.

The minimum is 10 % but there has been occasions where I didn't leave any due to poor service. I return the food if it is not properly made ( I know, I am picky )

There are also occasions where I can leave up to 30 % if the ambiance, food and the service is excellent.

To be honest, waiters have a salary. They get paid for what they do. Plus in some countries/restaurants a 10% service charge is added to the bill. Why tip then? That is the question.
We didn't have the custom of tipping waiters here in Cyprus. But things have changed after close encounters with Turkey. I usually leave 10% roughly. If the food and/or service is not good I don't leave anything. And I try not to go back to that place. Especially when I go to a good restaurant and the waiter tells me they only have X beer and not Z; or when they only have 1-2 brands of wine, I get mad and I don't tip them. I feel like I am being forced to drink what they offer. I am the customer and I should have the choice.

When i don't leave tips that means that the quality of service was not good

i think i m the poorest of answerers :)generally 10 %, very seldomly none due to bad serving.

Megz
I always leave at least 20%....even if the service is not great. Waitressing is a stressful job and it's not that person's fault if the food is not the best or is taking a long time.

It depends on the kind of restaurant, it's customary to leave 10-15% of the bill's total amount as a tip, depending on the quality of the service of course........ I've left a couple of times from a restaurant without leaving ANY tip at all, when the service was worse than poor......

RatHouseCafe
normally people are not tipped in Europe, because unlike in the states, they are paid for their waitressing jobs. Although there is nothing that says you can't tip (I usually give 15% tip).

Templar
depends how cute the waitress is and if they bother to serve me or not
so anything from 0 to 15%
