How old do you have to be to drink alcohol in Europe?

Specifically in Greece, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark and such.

Simple answer is that there is no "one" age for Europe, or even EU countries. Each country has it's own laws concerning the legal drinking age, with some allowing a differential depending on alchohol content

The simpliest thing you can do is to look up the countries that you are planning to visit and read each one to see what the age is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drinking_age#Europe

Not true, in Denmark you only have to be 16 to drink

For anything containing under 22% alcohol, you need to be 18 in Finland, and have the papers (passport, ID card, driver's license, etc.) to prove it. For drinks over 22%, you need to be 20 or over - at least to buy from Alko. You won't find anything other than beer, cider, etc. in the supermarket in Finland: everything else is only available from Alko. (I don't know much about alcohol-related topics, since I never imbibe - can't stand the stuff. I just know this much.)

In most European countries, as the countries you mention, it´s 18. In Iceland for example it´s 20 years, so the age varies a bit in Europe, but the most common age allowing you to drink alcohol is 18 years.

I'm thinking the age is probably 18 at most places but most of the time they don't enforce it. If they do ask in one place then just move on to another which I don't think will happen. They want to make money. My friends were drinking at age 15 in Croatia. Good luck.

xy
as long as you can pass for 18, you're good.

I think 16 is about the official drinking age for most of the countries. Some might be 17 or 18 but they are not nearly as strict as in the USA. So if you can't buy it in a certain place just go somewhere else and try.
