How would you describe a person of strong character?

I ask this, as some of the questions in this forum have lead me to question the emotional integrity of people....Is it ridiculous to assume that people genuinely seek some kind of understanding therefore ask a question, OR are people only seeking attention, a place to vent their frustrations and only want people to serenade their ego's ?

Seeing as I have asked this question, I guess I should explain why....
I have been responding to some questions with genuine interest at the best my mind can assist with at the time....and sometimes just to be playful....I have a sense of humour :)

But I'm beginning to get the niggling feeling that people don't really want differing perspectives or insight...... and that by replying in my own tone, that I am only having new labels attached to me.......
Do they just want attention and the confirmation of what they think?

Is it pointless for me to ask what makes them want to label me?

I do not want people to agree with me here....

I want you to shed some light as to what you think constitutes strength of character.....and do you think my asking this question is indicative of emotional weakness.......or strength?

I am COMPLETELY open to all ideas....

Even the sarcastic and comical ones....
Additional Details
Did u have to re write what u wrote Baris? I'm so sorry....
Keyser I have a question to you because you are openly venomous to Kurds, Armenians, Greeks, Arabs or any 1 you think does not fit your understanding of related to Turkey....Why do you feel you need to DEFEND a country that already exists by abusing the multicultures that live within it? Nobody is DENYING Turkey, people just want to be recognized, you dont have to agree, but dont be rude too, you are no better than the trolls who provoke every people (Turks, Greeks, Kurds, Laz, Armenians, Arabs) involved with Turkey to start attacking each other in the most inhumane way...... See here...we were talking about something completely different and you turn it into a political debate...Strength Of Character dude, I know u keep reporting ppl....do u think u own YA Turkey category, Baba'nin mali mi sahipleniyorsun? Bende Turkiye vatandasiyim tabii ki hakkim var burda paylasmaya....
Seriously just go join the army.

hate to admit, but most of us are here to socialize. The stay at home mother, home office workers like myself, people who are bored at work... and people who feel the meaning of their existence is to make somebody admit to something...

I try to reply even trolls with information, because

1. I get violation notice if I reply with sarcasm, and
2. When somebody else wants to ask a genuine question about that subject, the previous trollish question pops up in Yahoo and may give the wrong idea to the genuine asker.

Let's continue being as decent as possible.

You are new here
Turkey/Travel and Greece/Travel sections are infested by trolls, we have their constant attention. Some of the absurd and annoying questions belong to these trolls who have multiple accounts. At the moment you may not differentiate between who is a troll and who is not while answering.
I remember you complaining about getting too much thumbs down. I think your question is related with that. I assume some of your thumbsdowners are those trolls, just ignore them. Everybody gets his/her share with that.

Edit: Don't take internet too seriously
Edit: daha önceki cevaplarımızı sevmiyor muydun? : P

The fact that most of us are in one way or the other addictive of this forum speaks enough of our strength of character.
Also the fact that we ask&answer questions mainly to mirror our own beliefs, and to admire our personal wit and wisdom speaks enough of our emotional integrity. I believe people are not very fond or open to different opinions. And yes, most just want attention and confirmation of what they think.

It's in human nature to label and categorize others. Our life is made easier with it. It's very difficult (even in the closest of our relationships) to resist this impulse. Experience and previous events are hard obstacles to overcome. I'm aware of this, and for example, in bringing up my own child, I'm trying so hard to defy this and to concentrate on the specific issue. But things like "oh yes, I know you, it's just like you" keep popping up all the time.

Your asking this question - same as my answering - is the sign of a desire to communicate and be heard. Not necessarily indicative of either a strength or a weakness.

But I agree and I hate it myself when people agree with me mechanically. As Wilde said: "Don't say you agree with me. Whenever people say so, I know I'm wrong."

Sweetie your answers are fine.
and so are your questions.
Theirs are wrong....
I agree with many of your
answers...Which of
course would mean you
indeed have integrity an
strong character...lol
I would say strong character is
just in how you perceive
human beings.. When ya
don't see everyone as one,
and ya need to separate
people by race, color, or
religion, you checked out
of the human race, and
stepped into a pile of crap.
Many of the characters
around here only see
wrong when the answer
or question isn't coming from
a Turk... Condoning these
Turkish users who use vulgar
remarks, and racial insults,
most often targeting other
users is what makes people
like me (one of strong character,
and moral ethics) lose respect
for many of the Turkish users
here. I see them defend these
disgusting users, TU them, and
some even moronically agree
with them, what I see is a weak
character with great ignorance.
So, as long as you continue to
see every one as equal ya
answers and questions
are gonna be just fine.

Carry on...

ADD :( Weak character is also
reporting answers, like mine above
which is now a "rerun"....Thanks
to those who felt exposed by it, like
what I said everyone didn't
already know. hahaha
This just might shed some light
as to why questions and answers
from Turks, like " is it true what
this Greek said'? live on and mine
are killed off in 5 minutes...hahaha
I always come back from the
dead though...

Notice the TD I have gotton from those
below me...It is obvious they
do not feel treating everyone
as an equal is an option..
Just to give you an idea of who
and what your up against...

ADD:( Now, watch how many
TU kyser will get either from
himself or others just like
him.
Lets see how may Turkish users
have the good sense to report
it, and how fast it gets removed
...hahaha I am figuring I am
the only one who had the sense
to report it. (I'm not Turkish though)

ps; Gwen, and esphane,
"right on sisters"
and as an extra bonus I will
say, Gwen is right, there
are not only extreme
nationalists breeding
in Turkey, it is happening
in other countries as well...
But it is wrong anywhere...its
only racisim with a different name.

Keyser:
"im here to stand up for turks, turkish history and to have discussions on the future for turks.

some armenians and greeks or kurds are here because there is nowhere else for them to go online to rile turks,so they do it here.simple.thats it.doesnt need to be explained anymore than that."

You JUST confirmed what BarisAwareness wrote if you say that all you are here for is to defend Turks *no matter what* against them "Armenians and Greeks or Kurds". I think, btw, that what BarisAwareness wrote *also* applies to those in other sections who will defend Greeks *no matter what*, Armenians *no matter what*, Kurds *no matter what*,... against all them "others". But, gosh, you seriously could not have supported her point better in the case of our people!

Efsane, I agree with many of the users above (aside from Keyser): We all come here for different reasons, and Goxy was especially right on target in noting what having a certain level of addiction to this site already implies about our stalwart strength of character. :D It is a half-joke, of course, but the point is: Everyone has got a bit of weakness.

Yet, the fact that we may have weakness does not negate that we may also have principle, and each of us have different principles applied in varying degrees of strength.

When I first came on this section, I also began to receive many thumbs-down after choosing BarisAwareness' answer as best answer. I subsequently learned that she is Armenian and not very well liked by the section. It did not phase me until the "Grey Wolf" question, at which point I had lost hope in the section altogether.

Maybe some people, similar in mentality to Keyser, automatically thumbed me down because they thought I was not Turkish. I have no idea. It is possible that some of the Turkish users in the section have become overly defensive in response to some actual trolls that you yourself have also seen infest the site (e.g. fyromian, augustus, etc.).

I would not be surprised if there exist users here who are thumbing you down because you are Kurdish. You may have a few stalkers who will track and automatically thumb down your posts. Don't heed them. Note that those do not represent all (and I hope not even *most*) of the users on this site.

I have also known very good, humane Turkish users on this site, as well as good, humane non-Turkish users interested in Turkiye. They have a global outlook while maintaining their love for their country and the people therein.

There are ultra-nationalists on the one hand, then people who take it as a *principle* (see, this is what I am getting at: It is not about the ultimate strength of character only, but rather what one's principles are, and how constant such principles have been... maybe that is the "strength"?) to accept all human beings as human beings while maintaining their national and ethnic identities all the same. There are also many users who are in-between, perhaps in decision. It would not be bad to help them decide by making a good example of the principles that you hold dear. ;)

Now, let us all get off of the computer!!! (aaaah perhaps I should change my professsiooooonnnnnnn......)

take care peeps...

LOL Keyser, I love how you prove the point of those you hate. ;) Yes, I love to hike as well. :D

It is the human nature to associate everything with something else. Even when you try to point out the situation, ironically you also do the same thing, labeling the other side: "wanting attention and the confirmation of what they think". And, I think people of strong character are those who can struggle against difficulties regardless of the situation they are in. That's why I can consider the heroes of World War I as people of strong character.

I define strong character as having blond hair and blue eyes but thats something Turks or Greeks are not capable of having so i guess they cant have strong character either
