I don't think that the Muslims have a monopoly to mock the wearing of the veil in Muslim culture.

I wouldn't feel insulted and I wouldn't support it either...all mocking are wrong, I would defiantly say something to the person who was doing it..

Not really but to be honest I don't like to see it. I find it sad that women should have to wear it or feel they should be wearing in the presence of others.
I certainly don't like seeing it in the UK, I am fully against it there, although wear it if you want to but not because you have to. I am for freedom not oppression

Nobody was the right to make fun of another cultures traditions. They don't have to like it but they are not supposed to insult people because of this, either.

As you know I live in Kuwait and I see veiled ladies all the time. I resist the idea of Turkish people to wear veils because of my personal beliefs- which are mostly related to women rights and political point of view- on this issue but I would never tolerate my non-Muslim friends to mock them about it.

The veil isn't Islamic. It is ancient cultural.

On the other hand, you don't make fun of people's culture, even if you don't agree with them. You may critisize, but not mock.

Take the female circumcision, i.e. mutilation of small girls in Africa. Say you know a woman you know (somehow) has had that mutilation. Will making fun of the practice benefit those girls? No.

So, I wouldn't support the mockery, but I wouldn't feel insulted, either. I would feel sorry for the mocked woman. Just like I feel sorry for the open headed girls those tented ladies honour with the word "wh*re".

By foreigner, I assume you mean a westerner. Unfortunately some of them enjoy mocking Muslims for their attire and beliefs. re the insulting cartoons of Prophet Mohammed in some European countries.
I am not religous and am against the head covers and veil. I personally think they have nothing to do with religion. At present, the headcover in Turkey is being used for political ends. As someone else pointed out below, the covering of women's head and face existed long before Islam. Catholic women cover their heads when they enter the church.
Although I am against any kind of restriction imposed on women, whether it be civil rights, dress code, or anything else, I would not tolerate any kind of mocking, especially from someone who knows nothing about the culture.

Depends. I'm sure this will sound racisit. but meh. If it's there culture, I'd be insulted, but if they are somewhere else in the world you need to respect that countries culture to an extent.

Speaking as a non-Muslim, I actually am ashamed of their actions. Especially here, when you mention Muslim, the first thing out from their mouths is "Bin Laden."

I actually ask those people to have a little respect for others. I usually go through the litany of having to mention the Bible, Jews, Victorians and other cultures with their uniqueness to get my point across. Most often times, they get it and are embarrassed by their narrow-mindedness while others try to get the last word or say "Muslim lover". Of course with me, no one is able to. ^_^

I also feel pity for those ignorant blokes and sheilas but then I can't blame them maybe because that is how they were raised. Pity because they didn't want to venture out of that mindset even just for the sake of intellectual curiosity. With how many million Muslims in the world and Islam being the second biggest religion in the world, would one think those millions are misguided or worse, crazy to follow it?

i live in multi racial country and the muslim here are free to wear veil. nobody mock at them.

Everybody wants to see and appreciate the beauty and even see the woman nude.
Also, the western used/employed the woman perfectly in their advertisement for Foodstuff, drinks, pastries, cosmetics, textile, furniture, cars, and machinery â€¦.etc (Do you think there is relations between the machine with advertising nude woman), in every thing the young girls used as entertainment material, but after passing 30 years of age, growing old, and decay the signs of beauty, they throw out and look for the others new faces. Only less get success in life, while most of these girls, live the rest miserable life.
Also, in every society with nude woman in street, the crime level in increasing.

But for Muslims they are away from such social problems, because Islam Rules organize this problem and find the perfect solution.
And you can make comparisons between the women in both communities.

According to me, I will stand with woman with veil. She is like the pearl only for here husband not for every body to see and touch and entertain. She is special own. Not like thrown sweet attacked by group of flies.

They can mock or do whatever they want. And know that the woman in Islam is trustable, which is the demand of every man who wants to rest in his life.

This topic is very important and need more discussion.

I don't see what they could mock. It's a personal religious choice. It sounds like they're a bit ignorant and too concerned with other people's decisions. I probably would be mad. Then I'd quickly recognize that they're probably foolish and move on from there.

I don't feel that it would be appropriate, but to be honest, not being muslim myself, I would not be offended. Although, I do think that it would be rude in the extreme, and if they were here at my behest, I would correct the behavior, even if I couldn't correct the ideal.
