No way of telling. Maybe, maybe not. Its about risk assessment. If you have no problems getting girls that are American citizens then its probably best to play it safe. Sometimes it works other times you get ripped off.

Truth is Russia is no second world country,and no decent Russian girl is going to wish to date or marry you just for a passport/citizenship etc.

The laws are changing. It is getting harder and harder for internationals to get permanent residency, which then leads to citizenship, by marriage. The whole process takes years.

But if I understand you correctly, you do not want to marry this girl, you just want to date her. There is no way for her to gain anything just by dating you.

Dating is not a reason to grant American citizenship. So go ahead date her. Just do not marry her :) (so to be safe)

Addendum: If you really get into serious relationship, do not lose your head and try to understand if she is for real or want to use you. In fact isn't that a general rule? Suppose you are rich and want to be on lookout for the gold diggers?

The fllipside, if she indeed wants to use you, you have A LOT of leverage on her. If your are cynical enough. It takes years and years to get permanent residence and all these years she will depend on you 100%. It takes you one word to INS and she is outta country. You can turn her into personal slave. Many people in US do just that.

(I am not suggesting anything bad, I am just saying all this quid pro quo is a risky business for these women)

there's no definite answer tht 1 can give for such a question, if u like this person then u shd ask tht person out there is no way u can know if they like u coz they can get a citizenship....i say just ask her out n don worry bout wat could happen just take it as it comes.

Yes. People do so. From many countries. If you like this woman, and you think you can trust her...ask her out. They aren't going to get easy citizenship, though they might use you to get their Green Card.

Don't get ahead of yourself. She could very well be studying here, because it's the best university for her needs. It could turn into a really good relationship...or not. There are always risks in dating, in all relationships.

Its mostly a myth that international student girls want to use a man to get citizenship. She's not some broke girl from a village looking for a lifeline if she is already here as a student. Sure being American helps your position, especially these days when Russian students hear things are getting worse at home. The bigger part of the picture is you are relatively stable and wealthy in her eyes. She's no different than an American girl wanting to date/marry a lawyer or doctor.

Its just something that will open the door (like her looks will for you), you still have to woo her like anyone else long before marriage talk comes.
