I'm going to Cyprus nexr week, is it true that I can go skiing there?

I lived in Cyprus for three years while in the RAF in the early sixties and spent last Christmas there.

There is snow on Mount Troodos for three months of the year, usually December, January and February so they don't have to import it.

One of the many beauties of the island is apart from the 300 odd days of sunshine a year is the diversity of the weather on the same day in different parts, these three photographs were taken on Boxing day last.

The first at Paphos Harbour.

The second half way up Mount Troodos you can see Mount Olympus in the background.

And there are ski lifts also, I hope you have a lovely time there.

PS there are no camels there either.

Strange as it may seem I have friends who live there and they were telling me of the snow on the mountains. Whether you can get up there and ski is another matter. I'll endeavour to find out for you.

Yes, you can ski in The Troodos Mountains....they do currently have snow !!! There are days when you can go skiing in the morning, and then go down and sunbathe on a beach in the afternoons!!

I went to Cyprus in October and it was really hot there, I don't think there would be snow to skii, unless they have dry ski slopes there!

Have a look on www.weather.co.uk and type in cyprus to see what the temperature is there at the moment, because if its warm, there wont be any snow.

I know it gets cold in cyprus in the winter but never heard of skiing there
