Watch your money, pickpockets of course target tourist sites. You shouldn't take the first price quoted when buying from a tourist store. If you see any demonstrations, people walking down the middle of the streets w/ slogans and yelling, stear clear! Especially if you are an American . Try to eat where the Greeks eat.Small neighborhood "tavernas" are better priced and probably have better food. Taxi drivers can be a nightmare,if they try to quote a price w/out the meter, get another taxi. Also, probably a good idea to ask for a receipt,(ah-po-deh-xsi) this way they might be less likely to rip you off. Say a few things in greek,Yasou(hello or goodbye),Ef-kar-ee-sto(thank you),Po-lee kala(very good),Pah-rah-kah-loe(Please),No-stee-mo... appreciates an honest effort to try to speak their native language.
Keep an open mind. Some of the buildings you are staying in are older than the States.Don't compare everything to how it is back home.If you don't want to experience a new culture, stay home.
You also will be in Greece during "Paska",Easter. A very big deal, considering over 90% of greeks are Orthodox. You can greet people w/ Kah-lo Pah-ska.In Tripoli, the city has a festival in the main square on Easter Sunday. They roast whole lambs, hand out red eggs, and I believe have traditional dancing and music all day.And of course wine. This is all free.Check it out, drink, eat, dance like the greeks.

I did and fell in love with the people and the country..and I will make my 8th trip in a row on June 30th

PS: Wonder who gave all the neg ratings to us that answered about our experience and good times in Greece?

Oh you lucky thing, you don't say where in Greece you are going to.?.
As everyone knows Greece is one of the friendliest of nations, just take the usual precautions as anyone does in a place not familiar to them,I went on my own years ago,all over the islands had a great holiday, met lots of nice people and if I wasn't married I would def do it alone again.
Common sence prevails.
You can ask at the hotel of the do's and don'ts in the area, that is of course if there is any.
Have a great holiday and as said take lots of lovely photos. Enjoy.

Watch out for the tourist traps, they overcharge. Don't be afraid to haggle for prices on souvenirs. Be careful of other tourists the like to rip people off(back packers).

Make sure you have Euros (local currency), sun glasses, sun lotion, hat or cap with large brim, lots of film and a good camera.

Enjoy yourself!

You should probably "Greece" today and get it all out of your system...

don't drunk on ouzo the first day..

be sure to give yourself relax time, dont constantly go out, you'll tire yourself. have fun and go to the beaches.. its a vacation.

be very careful.. if you see anyone shady do not go with them anywhere or anything. i suggest you speak with a sort of greek accent so no one thinks youre a silly tourist because where i used to live (rio) people would purposely take advantage of tourists. haha

?BIRD?
be careful as 2British families died there one in monoxide poisoning others burned alive. hope you picked your hotel good
