take more, you will be spending it. although turkey is not very expensive (food/lodging etc) you probably will have the urge to shop. nice jewelry, clothes, handbags, and gifts, leather articles, turkish delights etc...
plus you want to have a good time at the bars and restaurants..you only live once, save up and have the time of your life :)
have a wonderful stay.i love turkey!!!

Nowhere near enough. I went a few years ago and we took £300 spending money for 7 nights, and we ran out on the 3rd day. It depends where your going to eat (will your friend be feeding you at home) and what you want to do during the day. I would take more though....

Depends on if you need to buy food or not also on what nightlife you go, Personally that wouldn't last me 1 day, but I'm a bit of a spendthrift.

You can always spend more, but you could be OK with less as long as you have no accommodation costs. I would recommend having enough to treat your hosts in some way appropriate to express your appreciation. And don't forget that Istanbul CAN be expensive! That being said, here are a couple of URLs that may help you figure out how much to bring.

The capital city, Istanbul and the fancy resort, Marmaris should be good guides.

Really depends on where you are staying. If you have free lodging and free meals and stuff maybe 100 pounds in a small or medium town. But, if you want to go out and have fun I would atleast bring 300-400 pounds. Of the bat I think you will have to pay 10 pounds for your enterance visa.

DEPENDS on what you are doing l think if its was my about £50 a day plus a Little extra have a nice time am there in AUGUST YIPPEE

I would absolutely take more to be on the safe side. The amount you mention does not sound much, and usually when one is in a foreign country, one usually uses more money than at home. 9 days divided with the money, you mention, does not end up to much.
I think you can´t count on, that the person you will stay with, will pay for you, on the contrary, perhaps you want to invite this person for dinner, for example.

Whatever you decide, I wish you a nice visit in Turkey!

it depends on what your gonna be doing i would take more than that just in case
