PS. 12% of the US population is estimated to be below the poverty line...............so maybe you're not as rich a nation as you think you are

some countries in the continent of Europe are very rich and others are (by american standards) poor. there is a very disctinct difference IMO - in many Eurpoean places - being american poor is not a tragedy.... they have homes, jobs and live strong lives - they don't need to have $100 jeans with someones name tatoo'd across their fanny, they don't need an iPod to be important - they are happy in life : )

Europe as a land mass is much richer than the USA, it is not a single country but a collection of countries. The technology and way of life is similar to that of the US except that the encumbent population tend to be much better travelled than us. The europeans have fantasctic cultural history and a much more accepting view of the need for cultural diversity. Computers, Ipods, nice clothes..... you wont notice any difference. A fantastic place with truly fantastic people............
