We do not use computers, but abacus. We do not use ipods, but AAA-battery filled radios. We do not use clothes, but a leaf on our visible genitals. Really poor, isn't it ? |

Oh dear.............nicely picked name that, "Dumb American" !!
Ignoring the fact that Europe is actually a continent and not a country........................
If we didn't have computers we wouldn't be able to pick up this post would we, dumbass?
As regards nice clothes - never seen a Yank wearing them - unless your idea of "nice clothes" is a redneck check shirt and jeans. You want to see style, walk round Paris, or Milan, or Madrid........but of course you won't know where they are will you?
I would think this was a wind-up if I didn't know a few Yanks who are genuinely as thick as this.
Are you guys sure you've invaded the right country ?
PS. 12% of the US population is estimated to be below the poverty line...............so maybe you're not as rich a nation as you think you are |

Hilarious! So clearly your question is a wind up. No-one can be that stupid. You are aware that Europe is not a country? |

hmmm, i expected better from you. you've seen those models, do they look like they get enough to eat? and, all their cars are tiny, the women run around half naked, and i hear some of them are forced to eat snails. does that sound rich to you? |

I don´t mean to be offensive either, but are all the Americans so uneducated as you?? It´s difficult to think that in such a "rich country" as yours, where you wear nice clothes and do have computers and ipods, you don´t know that Europe is NOT a country, but a CONTINENT!!!!
Well, all the previous answers have said quite enough, too |

Europe is a continent, not a country.
Some European countries are very rich, some are more poor.
And yes, we have computers, ipods and wear nice clothes. Why do you think that countries outside of the US are living back in medieval times? |

some countries in the continent of Europe are very rich and others are (by american standards) poor. there is a very disctinct difference IMO - in many Eurpoean places - being american poor is not a tragedy.... they have homes, jobs and live strong lives - they don't need to have $100 jeans with someones name tatoo'd across their fanny, they don't need an iPod to be important - they are happy in life : ) |

Europe as a land mass is much richer than the USA, it is not a single country but a collection of countries. The technology and way of life is similar to that of the US except that the encumbent population tend to be much better travelled than us. The europeans have fantasctic cultural history and a much more accepting view of the need for cultural diversity. Computers, Ipods, nice clothes..... you wont notice any difference. A fantastic place with truly fantastic people............ |

Fortunately not all Americans are as stupid as you are and that's why America is not a poor country.
You should be ashamed by the way! |

I'm sorry I don't mean to be offensive but Europe is not a RICH COUNTRY like America! it is a continent! for that matter a rich one as such. u might not believe this but America is no where near Europe as a whole in terms of riches, though individually i have my doubts. |

Yep, and Europe is a continent consisting of many countries. |

Europe is not a country, but a whole continent and Yes, we have everything that you have, just only that ours are better!

Each city and citizen in Europe has it's own spirit, it doesn't matter if it's rich or poor! I wouldn't say that about America! You people are so plastic and empty! |

i think you're taking the p**s!
we all know in europe that americans are dumb!but you must be the dumbest of them all to ask such a stupid question!
europe is a continent made up of many countries.a large amount of the technology you use in the states is developed in europe.

First of all, let's point that Europe is not a country; it's a continent.
The European Union (EU) is a family of 25 democratic European countries, committed to working together for peace and prosperity. It is not a State intended to replace existing States, nor is it just an organisation for international cooperation. The EU is, in fact, unique. Its member states have set up common institutions to which they delegate some of their sovereignty so that decisions on specific matters of joint interest can be made democratically at European level.
The GDP nominal is the usual way to measure how rich a country is. The GDP using the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) is arguably more useful for comparing differences in living standards because it takes into account the relative cost of living, and inflation rates between countries, rather than just using exchange rates, which have the potential to distort the real differences in income.
The gross domestic product (GDP) nominal for 2005:
European Union 13,446,050M$
United States 12,485,725M$
The gross domestic product (GDP) PPP for 2005:
European Union 12,427,413M$
United States 12,277,583M$ |
