For travelling in Amsterdam, you can just walk, use public transport (the tram, buy tickets, visit gvb.nl) or use a fietstaxi, a taxi in which the driver is cycling. If you go by tram, try downloading a podcast for tourists at http://www.gvb.nl/overgvb/nieuws/Pages/Podcasttram4.aspx

You don't mention how old your children are or when you are planning the trip. Tulip fields (keukenhof) have already closed for the season so this is not an option.
The following site may give you some ideas as to what there is to do. Venture outside of Amsterdam as well as there are many other things to see in the nearby vicinity. |

Dam Square is really cool to see what goes on there. Its free too and its great for family. People just show up there and do shows for coins in their cup. I was there 5 minuntes and I saw Darth Vader, the Statue of Liberty, and a guy juggling fire sticks on a unicycle! |

Anne Frank house is very nice. You should also try visiting the Amsterdam Zoo, The Van Gough Musuem and Hard Rock Cafe Amsterdam. Be aware of pick pockets and if you travel by train, be leery of some of the people inside Central Station. Also try visiting The Rijksmuseum. It has alot of 17th century Dutch paintings. Very well worth the visit. Have fun:))))))) |
