The building industry both in Greece and in Spain (more in Spain) the past several months is suffering. In fact noone is building any more, and it will last for a while.

I know of a recruitment company in Spain who are always looking for good candidates, you can search their website and apply for jobs and upload your CV to them, they can then match you with work when they have a job that requires your skills.

They also have another section of their website where you can post for wanted jobs - the website is well established and has many people viewing it every day - worth looking into it :)

dont know about spain but on my hols to greece all building work is stopped for the summer. im talking about holiday resorts mind you.

spain normally goes on holiday for the whole of august so the sites close down, also greece normally do their main building work in the winter months due to the weather - i would look at just going on a working holiday but maybe the pubs/bars as i think you will have more luck with that???!

We own a builders yard which employs 'steel reinforcers' ... don't know the correct name in English .. you know the workers that put the metal foundations for buildings in Greece (sideras). Keep in mind - will you be willing (and can you?)to work outside in 40 degree heat - from 7am - 3pm EVERYDAY for little money! It's incredibly hard work and that's why Greeks tend not to want their children to do this - most of the jobs are taken by Albanians and lately Pakistanis. I don't know if it would be worth it - it's not like going to Saudi Arabia or another high paying country.

Like the answerer above me said - Greece also stops for one week in August (Athens sometimes a month) around the 14th - I know as that's the only time we get chance to go away for a few days. It's up to the cement people when the rest of the workers stop - if the cement suppliers say 'right that's it we are off for a week or more - then all other work stops until their return.

To answer other users - building work does not stop all summer - and no we don't do most of the work during winter - because of rain! I have lived with this for the past 12 yrs!

Just jump on one of the low cost flights and go round the sites asking what's available. If you get taken on, you can stay there or retun home for your tools

I can't know the rules in Greece, but in my country people try to finish construction business before touristic season starts.

Talkinga bout Greece there are lots and lots of cities. Usually there you can find job very easily belive me. In Thessaloniki, Patra, Larissa etc
