Congratulations on your sexual preferences
I don't think you will be given special
treatment in Portugal just because you
are lesbian. |

I'm lost. What does being a lesbian have to do with where you live? If you are looking for a paradise where everyone surfs and 70 per cent of the women are lesbians I doubt that you will find it. If you just ask the question 'Where is the best place for surfers in Portugal?' you will probably gain a better response. Not trying to be nasty but it's not like the rest of us start a question with I'm straight, what should I eat for breakfast? |

Of course near the sea! But what country needs another Lesbian? Doesn't matter, they are all over the world. Pick your place and surf. If you ever get to Lisboa remember my motto: "No Muff to Tough, We Dive at Five!" :) |

Ok, There's a beach 35 kms away from Lisbon who is well known for alternative lifestyles.
That's called Meco...
The sea is flat in the summer, tho...
Good swirl in the winter, 2,5 mts tubes between September and October. |

Guincho Beach holds worldwide annual surfing competitions and the Estoril coast has a lot to offer for all ages, backgrounds & walks of life as you can zip up and down it easily depending on what you want, busy or laid back, party or siesta, etc.
(Blurb:
Guincho Beach is a popular Atlantic beach located on Portugal's Estoril Coast, 5 km from the town of Cascais, and is located in the municipality of Cascais, more precisely in the parishes of Cascais and Alcabideche,in the Lisbon district.
The beach has good surf and is popular for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing)
Algarve is a bit too tourist-y for my liking (Little England - Beefeater pubs and Fish'nChips) but horses for courses and all.... and I'm guessing the waves don't hold the thrill of the Atlantic. But in holiday-season, the nightlife is good if you want a transient lifestyle.
Didn't travel up north much but hear it's beautiful and of course some great rugged surfing coastline. So I would check it out all the same. Much more traditional I think but better if you're after a more chilled out lifestyle.
Take a holiday there and tour around, it's worth doing, and don't forget to send me a postcard.
