I am from spain and, i would like to tell me how dou you think is spain? |
hi! how are you. spain right now is the eighth economy in the world and the tenth influecial economy in the world, and the fifth economy of europe after germany, uk, france and italy. our economy is better than canada or rusia, and our country wants to go in to the g8 and not rusia or canada. i said this because i think europe thinks in spain there are only a lot of beaches. what is your opinion about spain? how do you see spain? thanks for answer my question, and sorry for my english, i try to learn it. a pleasure Additional Details thank you everybody for answer my question, you are nice people. leon its okay but i born in madrid and i lived in barcelona , bilbao and toledo. my favourite city where i lived is barcelona, also i like the other cities i lived. the last cities i visited were valencia for the america´s cup and granada for the new 7 wonders with "la alhambra", there i meet a lot of english people in the hostel, in the hostel the only spanish people were my friends a me the rest of the people were english, i like me very much granada. there are a lot of different cities in spain but everyone have something good. i don´t know if i answer your question about visit any city. this is my opinion, for me barcelona. |

I absolutely love Spain. I moved to Javea on Spain's Costa Blanca from the U.K. nearly 4 years ago. I would never, from choice, return to the U.K. I love the relaxed way of life, the beach, the lovely warm nights, the Sangria, of course, but most of all the warm and friendly nature of our Spanish neighbours. |

I have travelled extensively throughout Spain from East to West, North to South and on two occasions have even stayed with families in Barcelona and Salamanca during the summer months while learning Spanish. Believe me I didn't come all the way from Canada for the beaches (honestly the ones in the Caribbean and the South American beaches are cheaper, closer, and better) ...I came for the unique architecture, food, history, and culture...and certainly your beautiful country delivered. However, I'm not sure about your claim regarding the economy...I remember in speaking with the family members I stayed with that poverty is quite prevalent in Spain (that is in part why a lot of these families were taking on students from abroad) and that there is a huge number of singles who are refusing to marry which has affected the birth rate and resulted in an increasingly aging population that is not working...and when fewer people work, the economy usually suffers. I also heard many complaints about the education system in Spain - poorly trained teachers, lack of resources, high drop-out rates, etc...I couldn't believe it. As well internal conflicts continue, most notably between the Basque separatists, the Catalunyans (not as violent), and the rest of Spain - I mean it is still not a unified front so again this has a negative influence. Really tourism remains the primary revenue generating industry in Spain...but I know that there are other industries such as real estate and automotive (with SEAT- which is in fact Volkswagon - making in roads in many markets in Mexico and South America...not North America yet) that are becoming significant contributors.
Don't get me wrong...this is by no means a put down of Spain...honestly in all the places I've been in Europe, Spain remains my favourite country to visit...I just think that is still has a way to go.
EDIT: Yes, I completely forgot about Zara...there are quite a number of stores in Toronto and in other parts of Canada as well... |

Hi,
Actually I am surprised to learn that Spain is the world's eighth largest economy in the world.... though I suppose it makes sense, looking at the Seat parked across the street, the Solac appliances and bottles of Rioja here at home ... Go, Spain!
But note that the G7 still exists -- the 7 finance ministers of the European countries you mention plus USA, Canada and Japan meet regularly. Then once per year the heads of state of these 7 countries plus Russia, which basically forced its way into the club to create the G8, meet up and this is what gets a lot of press coverage.
If the G7 were to really be made up of the world's largest economies, then Canada would have to be replaced with China. But of course this would never happen, the Canadians would get offended if they were invited to leave, so instead the group would have to be expanded to include China. But then the Russians would get upset if China joins and gets to participate in the finance minister meetings (G7 --> G8) while Russia only gets to go to the head of state meetings (G8 --> G9). And then countries like Spain and Brazil, whose economies are certainly larger than Russia's, would have reason to also get upset that they remain shut outside the door while Russia is in. And then other economies would get bigger and demand to join ... India, South Korea ... and then instead of an elite little club, it would look like the EU27.
I think those boys in black suits and red ties know that adding members is a slippery slope (an easy trap to fall into). So expect to remain shut out until some major political-economic development occurs ... (maybe when Quebec leaves Canada?)
And lastly and sincerely, congratulations on your country's economic success. I remember it was not all that long ago that Spain was Europe's "poor cousin", now it is a strong and economically healthy country. So perhaps there is hope for us in central and eastern Europe after all, that the EU programmes work ;-) and peace pays off in the long run.
Cheers (but I think I'll save that Rioja for tomorrow)
PS
Oh yeah, you're right -- and Telefonica, whom I used to pay about 40 Euros each and every month (they bought Czech Telecom a year or two ago). Thankfully for me, and not for Telefonica, the telephone monopoly is breaking up here so I have been able to switch providers. Now I pay Telefonica's competitor just under 30 Euros each and every month for BETTER and MORE service.
If the competition strengthens, Telefonica will need to be able to compete by providing high-quality, low-cost services. So far they provide neither :-( |

I just love Spain, have worked there as a tourist guide in Majorca, seen Madrid, Barcelona, driving by train through Spain up to La Coruña, of course seen Andalucia, Granada and so on. Love the really fine culture you have there, and of course the food (tapas for instance). Spanish is my favourite language and I just love you people there! |

I don't think about Spain - I feel it. It's all about feelings: the language is magical, melodious; the music is heavenly; the sea, the cities, the countryside with warm and friendly people; the food, mmmmm.... What did you expect, everybody loves Spain! |

Hey Mario?? I am the SpanishMexican. You said that Spain is in Europe with other Europeans and Mexico is in America with the Indigenous. That is true. But what is also true is that our ancestors came from Spain during the 1600's and 1700's to colonize the area of Mexico we are from for the Silver. Most of Spain's silver came from the part of Mexico we live in. And it is where "El Santo Nino De Atocha" is. There a other beatiful colonial cities in Mexico such as this one:

A lot of our ancestors originally came from the province of Aragon. Madrid, Valencia, Zaragoza
One recent immigrant from Spain to Mexico is:
