although they say they do, do not be that much sure for it
better have some cash money with you
maestro IS a master card but you never know ( some shops and restaurants will not accept it)
and be very careful about thieves while in Prague |

I wouldn't say everywhere, but I'm sure that there are places. Enjoy... We're going there in 2 weeks. |

Maestro is a Mastercard. Use their ATM Locator http://www.mastercard.com/uk/cardholderservices/index.html to get an indication of whether it will be accepted. |

Most decent bars and restaurants will take debit and credit cards.Beware of the street dealers offering you high exchange rates for sterling or euros-it is counterfeit and you will be arrested for using it.Change your money over there if you need to- the exchange rate will vary, in the booths, between 240 and 245 kr to the pound-you will be lucky to get 235 in the UK. |

i went to prague last year and only found one bar/restaurant which took credit cards!!!
the reason for this is they have to pay a big charge each time they have a card transaction, i was really really shocked! i had to get money out a machine to really enjoy the trip
bear this in mind when you go and get a wad out before to save on charges
have fun! |

I would have thought so it being in the EU and everything. I know when I go to Thailand all major debit cards are accepted so why not in the Czech Republic? |

There will be some shops that you can use it, and restaurants. However because of increase in fraud, most places will only accept cash now in Prague. You will need a credit card to check in to a hotel though. as they will need an inprint of your card to charge any extras such as room service / minibar etc, even if you do not wish to use these, they will still need the card inprint for security.
Always a good idea to have a credit card just for emergencies when you travel. For example if you lost your luggage on your flight, your travel insurance will require you to purchase all of your new belongings and then claim them back with receipts. Unless you will have extra £££s available at the bank this can be a pain.
Hope this helps. |

Yes they do but I too found that Prague is still generally cash only. We would just hit up the ATM and take out cash that way. |
